from an old incident (december). this likely drops his stock though. if he's able to play next year (ie not in jail) id say take him in the 2nd round if he's still there

His account of the story was that he was just breaking up a fight. Claims he didn't punch anyone. The police are only charging him, and witness accounts were different from his. I think he could be charged with attempted murder and not slide to pick 47. J/k.

I don't think the Steelers are planning on going OL in the first anyways, but this basically puts the nail in the coffin for Lewan becoming a Steeler. Doesn't break my heart one bit though. I think he is incredibly overrated.

If he truly did assault somebody, Steelers won't touch him.

I don't know if I've ever seen a "first round" left tackle hold as often as he does. He's like a Seahawks CB.

If ever there was a year to justify NOT taking OL in the first round, it's this year, due to the fact that our defense is rapidly falling apart. However, Lewan would be a fantastic pickup and would do wonders for our running game and help shore up the protection for Ben. I'm totally sold on him if we go that route. The guy hasn't been a consensus top-10 pick for two years running because he's a turnstile at OT.

Solidifying the OL is the cheapest way to ensure long-term offensive success. We could actually sign our guys to second and third contracts instead of watching them walk like some of the WR's and CB's.

reports are they have been heavily active in checking out lewan and or schofield. multiple visits. drafting a lineman to protect ben and allow your new found RB to preform well has nothing to do with letting the defense suffer in any way or neglecting the defense. we have added a player at every level of the defense so far. Thomas D-line. Moats LB. Mitchell DB.

    1. Draft Lewan
    2. Sign Incognito

That would bring some attitude to our O-line! ;)

According to Dulac, Steelers are not looking at Lewlan.

Gerry Dulac: Who said the Steelers are looking at Lewan? Whoever said that doesn't know what theyre talking about. I wouldn't be shocked if the Steelers didn't even take an offensive lineman in the draft, If they do, I'd do it no earlier than that sixth-round compensatory pick, if that.

Not that I am a big Lewan fan, but I am sure hoping we are looking at someone on the OL before a 6th round comp pick.

*exhales relief* Those reports had me nervous lol I might be in the minority here, but I don't think it is a bad idea to avoid drafting an OT this year. We have enough young unknowns... If we look to improve the OL next year, we should do so in FA.

The way I look at it, if they dont draft one, then Munchak thinks what we have can get the job done. Thats good enough for me. I'd also be fine if they draft one for the same reason. I just prefer not to in the first few rounds. But again, I have complete faith in Munchak, if he thinks that whats necessary, so be it.

That sounded pretty definitive of Dulac but the Steelers don't share their draft information with anyone, so not sure who his source is on that. Buchette said as much in his chat yesterday, they dont tell them anything in regards to who they want to draft.

munch has been at these pro days looking at these top tackles. if he's not interested, I highly doubt he would waste such valuable time being there. I think all options are open in this draft. let's not forget two starters as of now will be free agents at the end of the season, and if this off season is any indication, we can't rely on them signing back here with us at a reduced rate. I hope they have a better plan than just wait and see who's available next year. signing Wallace to 3 years was huge towards some stability of the center position.

It would be irresponsible if he didn't do his due diligence, we'll know what his thoughts are after the draft. We have a lot of needs, going to be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

I also believe all options are OPEN,
When you have teams in front of you
(Oakland Raiders) and others drafting, they can make the draft board change a lot.So this
is why I asked on a different thread just WHO
    IS THE BPA@15?
