I tried to tell you guys it doesn't make sense to sign him right now, after the Moats signing today it's not happening. At least Moats has some upside he can backup OLB and help on special teams.

It can still happen, though this signing does cast a bit of doubt on it.

It all depends on what amount of money James will settle on. Moats is a wil LB and to me his signing isn't the best move the Steelers have made. He has position flexiblity but only on a 4-3. I feel in our system he isn't the best fit, though he may best serve here inside and on ST. I just can't see him as our 3-4 OLB back-up.

It easily still could happen. If it did...my guess would be after the draft and possibly after the Woodley money comes in...

Ditto to what those guys said, this guy seems to be a depth move and not really suited for what they do on the outside in base. I'd expect them to wait and see what they get in the draft and I could see him coming in after Woodley money if they're not happy with the situation. Remember the draft being a little later this year, so they have plenty of time.

I read where the Moats signing only moved cap needle by $150,000 I'm sure they wanted to get this deal out of the way before bringing in the mentor the old man! :innocent:

This is some serious premature gloating haha Made a whole thread to do it too, I love it! You are really setting yourself up on a tee for Blast Furnace if the Steelers actually do end up bringing Harrison back. Drama like this gets me jacked up. I'll stay tuned :lolol:

Lol, naa, I've done some immature gloating in the past myself, of course it was in jest though and not intended to piss people off who just want to see the team get better and have a different opinion as to how to get that done.

Just knowing how angry he will be that we signed an old washed up has-been will probably be enough for me :lolol:

Harrison won't be signed by anyone until the draft is over. Will we bring him back? 50/50 today. As I said Moats is a decent ST guy and we need a few of those.

He was a DE in college though. That should help. Maybe he'll be a natural.

At the same time, he's the furthest thing from a known commodity and we still have room for another. I'd still like to see James back as a backup for the right price. Jones - Worilds - Timmons - Williams/Spence/Whoever as starters, Harrison and Moats and Carter and Garvin as depth... I like that. It's a step up from last year.

    Also, this thread is silly.

don't sleep on Garvin. Look at his growth over last season. He went from an undrafted safety to starting a game at ILB and unfortunately he got banged up against the Packers because it would have been interesting to see who started the last game. He has the coverage skills and the athleticism to be very good in coverage. I could see them rolling Williams on running situations and Garvin in passing situations as well. Agate watching a lot of his play again even ignoring the block have high hopes for him and it sounds like the coaches do as well. He has an iintensity about him that is awesome. He covers a ton of ground just like Timmons and the two of them next to each would be able to go sideline to sideline no problem. Hopefully he is the next great undrafted player for the Steelers. I also like Williams as well and he is a huge hitter. I honestly think playing time between the two could come down to are we playing a running team or a passing team. Garvin still needs to put about ten pounds on to consistently bang with lineman and fullbacks.

I'm not sleeping on him. But I think he's behind Williams on the depth chart, and if Spence is healthy, it won't be long before he's behind Spence, who is that same kind of fast, coverage guy that Garvin is. Plus there's a decent chance we draft an ILB.

I think the only way they go ilb is if they are unsure about Spence. Also I don't see anyway Spence is the same player. I think it will come down to Williams vs Garvin and either way it's great for us. These two knew going into the off-season that they were the number 2 & 3 ilb and now it might come down to who put in more work in the off-season. It's going to be an interesting battle to watch as both seem like fierce competitors.
