Adam Schefter reports that MJD is visiting the Steelers today. Other teams interested.

And yes, before anyone asks, the real Adam Schefter.:smiley1:

can we really afford guys like this we have coming in? starks,MJD,blount,we can't even sign our own guys back at these rates we are offering. is it for show or do they really think these guys are that hard up? is there a way we can keep them on retainer until woodley's money is freed up?

They have enough for one more signing I would say. Once the Woodley money comes in they will probably start filling camp bodies and rookies.

Personally, I don't see us signing him. But I've been wrong before.

I wouldn't mind him being here, but I am not sure we can afford him. We can still do a restructure of some guys in order to clear some more space and extend others to clear even more space.

He is only 28 in age, but has a LOT of wear and tear on those tires. My guess is he leaves without a contract, but could come back to us assuming no one is willing to pay his demands or asking price.

I would like us signing him. He has basically been Jacksonville's Offense the last 5 years. Tough hard runner, be a great back up to Bell. I just hope it won't be for a ton of money. No need to over pay for running backs.

He would look good in black and gold at the right price. A definite upgrade over any of the backups we've had here for the past few years.

I dunno, I love him as a player I'm just not sure he really has anything left in the tank. Small RB's take a lot of beatings. He'd be okay as a third down back, but nothing more, IMHO.

He's not small, he's short. If he were 6' tall with the same frame, I think he'd be about 240 lbs.

Why? I think he would be an awesome backup and change of pace. He is only 28.

Agree 100%. But would be surprised if this actually happens.

I always want what is BEST for the team, but this would diminish the value of Bell in my fantasy 'keeper' league.

He's only 28, but there's a lot of mileage on him. At this point a lot of these guys the front office is looking at are just band aids for bullet wounds.

Some of these band aids work out for teams. Look at Cotchery. He was a camp cut by the Jets. He has been a solid vet for us understanding his role and knowing how to get open in this offense.

I have a hard time believing that a runner like jones drew will settle for sharing the load with anyone, and bell is clearly the #1 here

MJD has mileage, but I think he was also frustrated in Jacksonville, which is part of his drop in production. He wants to win.

No one is going to win anything in Jacksonville.

  25. The Steelers are only $2.31 million under the salary cap, and they don’t have the flexibility to pay what Jones-Drew is likely seeking unless they restructure contracts or sign players to new long-term deals to lower their cap hit for 2014. Inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons is an obvious candidate for a contract restructure. His base salary is $6.75 million this year and the Steelers could turn a significant chunk of that into signing bonus and spread the money over the final three years of his contract to reduce his 2014 cap hit."
