All part of the Peyton Manning apology tour.
"The Greatest of All Time" comes up lame again in the spotlight so it's time to blame it on the defense and overspend to cover for him.

Can you blame the defense? They played their asses off early on and got ZERO help from Manning. Zilch. Nada.

Sure the snap over his head wasn't his fault. Nor was the fumble after the long pass play. Even the one INT where he was hit can be excused. But early on he blew it and it snowballed out of control from there.

The way that game started, Denver desperately needed a spark, something, anything, to kill or even slow the Seattle momentum. What did Peyton do after the safety and ensuing FG (kudos to the Denver D for holding them to only 3)? 3 and out. The defense barely had time to catch their breath and had to back on the field yielding another FG, 8-0. At this point Seattle has major momentum and the game is in danger of being a runaway. Despite that and thanks to the D, its still only a 1 score game. So this is the key drive that to me can define his career. He doesn't even need to score here, just string together a few first downs, give your D a rest, flip the field position, and slow the killing machine that Seattle is becoming. Really if you are in the running to be considered the GOAT and just came off a record setting regular season and lead a record setting offense, this should be an easy one. To many, he IS considered the greatest after all. What does Peyton do? Not only a 3 and out but a pick 6.

    Nail meet coffin.

It was OVER at that point. Not even 1/4 of the game was in the books and Denver was beaten mentally. Done. Stick a fork in em. All of the other later game screw ups by the D and Special Teams pale in comparison to Mannings impotent start.

IMO that loss is 80% on Peyton Manning and his abysmal start.

Yet the apology tour rolls on. Just like after SB 44.

I'm not going to dispute Peytons lack of play in the big game but Denvers defense is pretty bad. They played above their heads down the stretch but they are closer to the defense that played in the first half of the year and it reared it's ugly head in the SB. The moves they made yesterday were necessary.

I understand you have to go where the work is but some of this has got to sting for some of these guys. To go from a proud franchise like Pittsburgh with a winning tradition and your first stop is a team that has been in the bottom half of the league for years will be playing overseas for a couple of games the next few years and in an attempt to Rembrandt their team had the first two tone helmet in the league. Its not the Browns but its close.

Aditi Kinkhabwala tweeted that she was talking to an exec and said how sad she was that so many of her faves are gone, the execs response, don't count them all as gone yet.

Who's next? Woods is already shopping, Hood? Beard? Have to keep some of the DL! Sanders I am sure is on the list. Cotch? No deal with him yet. Dwyer I'm sure is gone.

Once some of these FA's get an idea of their market value...you could see some brought back as usual.

If Dwyer isnt coming back...then I think they need a vet to back up him...and maybe still draft one late.

I never hated on Hood either...but I do think he would be better as a 4-3 DT.

I would call that dirt cheap for the #1 or #2 CB available in free agency. That may have been do-able for us.
