I think Woodley being cut is going to come down to who isleft come June 1st. If somebody is there that could make a huge impact then cutting Woodley makes sense if not then you keep him. Would iI cut him to sign a couple mid level free agents I don't know it just depends on who they are.

If he does stay, I don't think there is anyway he stays without taking a pay cut. I can't see the Steelers leaving all of that cap money tied up in a player that can't stay on the field.

I'm just wondering if the Steelers were to cut Woodley post June 1st he will still count for roughly $8 million (not 100% sure of this #) toward the cap. Then if you sign a free agent to take his place, how much will it cost? I'd say they would have to spend somewhere in the $2-6 million range for a quality back up? If so then they could save as much as $4 million or as little as breaking even, and if we're just going to break even I'd keep Woodley. If they cut him then you have to deal with a large amount of dead money the next couple of years for him. IMO The best case scenario is a pay cut which is highly unlikely or a trade with us eating some of his salary, but getting something in return, be it a player or a draft pick.

Glenn, why keep woodley to break even? Only thing he breaks is his hamstring every other time he steps on the field. He was good. Now he can't stay on the field so ship him or cut him

If it ends up being a break even situation, I believe Woodley is a better option than what's available in free agency.

He is. If he can turn it around like Troy did health wise, he will be very good for us. Troy was hurt every bit as Woodley has been and he turned in a 16 game season last year.

Few things would give me greater pleasure but... Troy showed commitment to getting healed each off season for the past, what, three seasons? We've not heard about that kind of discipline from Woodley.

Here's an idea... let's give him a "fat" (literally) incentive and put him at NT ;-)

Out of curiosity... if we did cut him after 6/1... what would we owe him?

    He would count ~ $5,590,000 this season, and ~ $8,580,000 in 2015.
