    Steelers Top 51: $129,374,616
    Steelers Dead Money: $5,349,900
    ---------------------------------
    Total: $134,724,516

Steelers Cap inc. 2013 carryover: $134,352,450

This does not include Will Allen. Assuming he is a vet minimum signing with no SB (which there probably is a small one) he will displace $420,000 from the top, making the difference apx. $535,000. Also, there are workout bonuses of apx. $500K that will need to be paid out very soon, so that should be added to the team's books soon, too.

The 134.7.. number is top 51 plus dead money. All 60 players currently under contract come in around 133.

I really think they'll work something out to reduce his cap number this year. Though, he could very well be cut...that's for sure.

There is a LOT of things we can do yet prior to the March 11 date in order to get under the cap, sign our draft pool AND get some players in free agency to help us.

Definitely. Renegotiating (or cutting Ike), signing Worilds to a long term deal, extending Ben, and even a couple small restructures (A. Brown/Timmons) if necessary. They could probably realistically clear in the neighborhood of $13-15 Mil without restructuring or cutting anyone.

The top 51 is just that, the sum of the top 51 contracts. The team's dead money total is separate from that number.

I think it comes down to what happens in the draft....My gut right now is they prefer to keep him.

I think he stays. we make room and he plays to save face and makes our rotation and sub packages better. he should play his tail off this year, if it's to only show other teams he has some worth left if we do the june 1 cut next season with him. he's also insurance this year to see if JJ will cut it and for injury sake. he will be much easier to designate for a june 1 cut next season. for one colons dead money comes off the books and then Woodley's is much lower over two years by then. I just hope he doesn't stay healthy all year, play well and they keep him next year only to have him fall back into what has been happening and miss the june 1 cut next year. that's a long way away though.

lersgofer7, that thread on the money I keep bringing back is pretty up to date as these moves happen. they update it pretty quickly thus far. if you use the pull downs at the top for team caps.

correct, but the dead money still counts towards the salary cap...otherwise it would be pointless to count the dead money....

Edit: nevermind ...it doesnt count during the offseason

Of course dead money counts. It's money that's immediately accelerated. I was just pointing out that the top 51 does not include that separate dead money figure.
