If Troy takes a pay cut, I will have more respect or him than any Steelers player that has ever played.
Here is to hoping #43 retires a Steeler.

Yeah I hope to see him retire here as well. Especially after he showed us this past season that he still has some left in his tank.

My assumption is he gets an extension at a lower figure over the next couple of years allowing for his cap hit this season to go down.

Where does this leave Shamarko Thomas then? Will we start him at FS now? I kinda always figured he was a SS since that's where he was listed on the depth chart and his game kinda looked like a SS coming out of college. I really hope the kid sees the field this year. He's one of the guys I'm most looking forward to watch this season.

Yesterday one of the talking heads said Troy had already told the front office he would not take a pay cut.

The Pittsburgh beat writers seem to think he is going to be starting at FS this year.

That will be interesting. I see him more as a SS splitting time with Troy.

That's what I was thinking, but I hope that isn't the case. I always thought this would be Troy's last year here, and Thomas would be the SS in 2015. We basically spent two third rounders on the kid AND played him out of position at nickel corner just to get him on the field, so I would assume the team wants him out there. Maybe they like him as a FS... The only logical scenario is that he will be the starting FS next season.

Why sign Troy to a 20mil extension if he is going to be splitting time with Thomas? I always saw Shamarko as more of a SS too, but the only scenario moving forward that makes any sense is that he will be the starting FS this season. Interesting.

Because of Troys age. While i'm glad they signed Troy to an extension, mainly because i'd like to see Troy retire a Steeler, they're going to have to find his replacement soon. And Thomas to me fits the SS mold more so than FS. So maybe not 50/50 but i could see them splitting time.

My main point though was that I see him more as a SS than FS, so in that position he'd have to split time with Troy, obviously :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but troy played some excellent ball this year as a LB in exotic packages. My understanding was that troy was going to retire once his deal ended so this is pretty great news!

Clark has been great for several years but was a liability last year, I'm hoping we replace him in the starting lineup
