It's the coaches fault there was a lockout his first training camp and he was injured for the 2nd?

I think the whole Worilds injury thing is part of that automatic self-defense move that seems to happen around here when players look like they might leave. People seem intent on exaggerating problems so that it won't be so bad if we lose them. So Worilds is injury prone, Sanders drops passes... when Worilds' starting is far more down to him sitting behind Harrison and Woodley.

We're not at the state of last year with Wallace (where he was painted as being by far the worst receiver the team had ever had, even though he was our star player...).

Would you have benched Harrison or Woodley?

(Not a rhetorical question, btw - it's something I've struggled with. Maybe we should have seen more of Worilds in Harrison's last year? Maybe Woodley should have lost the starting job earlier?)

It will sicken me to see Worilds leave, have a great year and watch Marshmallow Woodley on the sidelines again with a hammy.

He may not have started but he still played and contributed. Had 7 tackles and one sack in those 3 games.

Try this on a different vein, out of 64 games he has played in 57 of them. Doesn't sound to injury prone to me.

That does sound more encouraging and accurate. Thing is I totally blame this organization for not bringing him along faster.

He should have been starting sooner ..

For Woodley: out of 112 games he has played in 94 of them, 84%
Worlids ,89% Not much of a difference there?

don't forget woodley played in some games as a starter and went out because he couldn't play in them and was highly ineffective. those still counted as games played. he only tried to go with a handful of plays.

Worilds also had a handful of games where he played, but was limited due to injuries. I remember at least 2 occasions in the past few years where either Harrison or Woodley were out, and Worilds was questionable and played ineffectively. Statistically it counts as a game played.

I'm not saying he's as injury prone as Woodley, but he sure as hell is no iron man.

5% of a season turns out to be just about one full game. One game per year over a contract makes a pretty big difference. Woodley's "injury-proneness" has been more recent than it was early in his career, as all of his games missed have been in the past 3 seasons. Since 2011 he hasn't been playing anywhere close to 84% of his games...

I'm not trying to make this out to be any more than it is, but Worilds is younger and has comparable skills to Woodley. Woodley has struggled to stay healthy in recent years, and we pay him too much $$$ to be sitting the bench all year. I think the transition tag is a good thing for us. That way we can work a long term deal out for Worilds this season and cut Woodley to open up cap space for our future.

The last 2 seasons, Worilds missed 1 game, Woodley 8.

Hmmm, wonder which one struggles with injuries more :hmmm:

They both do. Based on the fact that you posted Worlids career stats I was just demonstrating that over the course of their careers they are not that far apart when it comes to time missed. I think a bit much is made of Worlids, but he has been injured and missed time or was limited because of it. As of late Woodley in a landslide.

Not to mention the fact that Worlids was beaten out by a rookie in DL's defense.

Yes, I posted Worilds stats, because I was showing that he hasn't missed a lot of games, you brought Woodley into it.

Ok. Not that that has anything to do with the topic at hand but then Worilds took his job back.
