If a team is looking to ditch their 1st rd pick one season after trading up to the #4 overall spot to draft him, it's safe to assume that they've determined that he can't play and are trying to peddle him off before everyone else figures it out too.

Here's an article from when the Dolphins made the draft day trade for him.

Dolphins couldn’t believe Jordan trade as cheap as it was

Posted by Darin Gantt on April 26, 2013, 8:37 AM EST

... Miami sent the 12th and 42nd picks to Oakland for the third. Going by the traditional trade chart, that’s short of a fair deal by 520 points, or the value of the 38th pick in the draft ...

They won't release him unless he's got serious character issues. Why would they? He's only making $1.34 mil this season. He's sunk cost at this point. May as well give him a shot to prove them wrong if they can't get a decent pick for him.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but would not be surprised if it is.

In last years draft it looked like all those outside rush types were way overvalued. Mingo, Jordan, plus some others. I have no idea why they were so highly drafted. It did not look like they would be effective at the NFL level. Of course, maybe they just need some time to adapt to the NFL game, at least that is what their teams hope. I suppose that applies to the Steelers also.

btw: The article also suggested maybe Wallace and Wake were also on the block.

    From the same article.

"Numerous league sources, including executives from other teams, say the Dolphins might also be open to dealing receiver Mike Wallace and pass-rushing ace Cam Wake. That perception has only grown through the course of this week, through conversations with numerous decision-makers from other clubs, as Miami looks to retool its roster under a new regime."
"The Dolphins need to revamp their offensive line, possibly by moving up the draft board to land an offensive tackle."
"Sources close to Wallace, Jordan and Wake expressed a belief that a trade would not be a shock this offseason, though Wallace's hefty contract would limit his options."

---They seem to be a team in disarray. But that Wake guy did look like he could play. Not likely he would be available, but the article did say that those 3-4 type LB's did not fit their 4-3 scheme.

Just for laughs. Would you want Wallace back if he was available? I really doubt many fans would. It seems the "1 trick pony" is now a "No Trick Pony"

Wow! If there is any semblance of truth to this article at all, it's extremely telling that the Fins are willing to cut bait with Wallace after one season! They goofed and they know it! They gave Jerry Rice money to Renaldo Nehemiah!

No. Wallace earns $15 million in base salary this season. Crazy money. Besides, he's turned into a full blown diva.

I love Cameron Wake, but I think he would be pricey for a 32 year old OLB. His base salaries are 2014: $5.82 million; 2015: $8.2 million; 2016: 8.275 million. Also, the Dolphins would eat $10 million in dead money if they cut him. I just don't see it happening. He's still pretty productive for them.

Nah. In the beginning of the season, Mingo had like 5 sacks. As the season wore on, people figured out how to block him/he dropped off the face of the earth.

Cleveland fans and media sounded a familiar refrain: Cut Jarvis Jones name out, paste Barkevious Mingo in.

I live in the Cleveland market. I saw more Browns footage than Steelers as a result. Mingo was a spectator with a really good view. He may have worn down about halfway.
Point is, I saw a great deal more effort out of JJ than Mingo. More flying to the ball, pursuit across the field, a lot of almost-but-not-quite. I like our guy better. I think he will hit the training room, and study film.

They probably still love his production, but not the back end of that contract. Same for Wallace(being nice about the production). If Tannehill pans out, they may need the cap space to lock him in before the end of his rookie contract.

I agree, and for that reason he may be a cut candidate before the 2015 season. However, all of his 2014 dollars are guaranteed, so there's no way they cut him in 2014, and it's really unlikely anyone would pick up that contract.
