Your right, but that doesn't impact this IMO. Spurrier wants him to be the best. Greatly skilled people only become the best with great effort. Look at Michael Jordan...he wasn't only extremely talented, he was the hardest worker on the team.

This is my point, I'm not trying to pick on the kid, on the contrary, I want to see him succeed, would be fun to watch, but to reach that level, you need to put the work in, in every facet of the game. Some of this is probably overblown as TTF has said, but I think there is too much smoke to dismiss it entirely though, truth probably lies some where in the middle.

I'm afraid I don't watch much college ball and have little to offer on the subject so I will leave that to you guys. However the small bit I did see him play in one game this year the two things that stood out were his ability and I don't want to say work ethic but maybe his in game focus. I watched him get into the back field and make a play on the RB just after the hand off, beautiful athletic move almost dropped the RB for a loss at the one yard line. Now credit has to go to that running back for breaking the tackle and making something of nothing, he got back to the LOS and maybe a two yard gain before the rest of the defense dragged him down, meanwhile Clowney is standing in the endzone head tilted back howling at the sky for not making a huge play. It is understandable but come on you missed the first time get back after him. I mean it wasn't a big deal in college ball but in the pro's that is the difference between a minimal gain and an 80 yard run by Pryor for a touchdown or one yard gain and a 79 yard TD run buy AP, you don't give up o the play to howl in frustration save it for after the tackle is made and the whistle is blown. That's my two cents

What did Iverson say" Practice,Its Practice man, not a game" or something like that.

Clowney probably does have a poor work ethic in practice. He's 6'5 @ 266Lbs and can outrun Wrs, RBs and even DBs... He had super production 2 yrs ago so he probably feels he doesn't have to work as hard as his teammates in practice.

He's not very strong so when he gets thrown in the lineup and top OTs shut him down he'll see its a whole new game. He'll get his ego checked, feelings hurt and will get stronger and work on his technique and by year 3 he'll be a Beast!!

The way Clowney looked in the season opener against (you know who) looked like he hadn't conditioned or trained all off season. Hell he was sucking oxygen. The kid is talented no doubt , I think the issue is his desire to push himself harder. It was obvious he was out of shape at the start of the season.
Spurrier has over 100 kids to coach. He knows one man who has basically already went PRO does not make a football team. I'm surprised clowney hasn't been found out to have ncaa violations yet.Boy that SEC is good at hiding their dirty laundry
