Keep thinking he will be a better version of James Farrior. Would be a great fit for us, BUT 15 is to high to take him, and I don't see him leaving the first round. I've said it before, trade down into the 20s and get Shazier and a CB or WR.

I personally don't think #15 is too high for Shazier. He has better insincts than just about every other LB in the draft. My comparison for Shazier is actually Troy Polamalu. But yes, if we could trade down and get him, I wouldn't hate it.

Unfortunately he decided not to run.

Trading back would be ideal, and while it certainly could happen, I think the depth in certain positions in this draft is going to make it harder to find a dance partner. Shazier would be a great addition. Super smart football player. I don't think #15 is really a reach for him personally. He's right in that mid first round group, IMO.

let me start by saying I am not trying to tick anyone off.lol was it me or did he look slow in the bowl game. I know he had 8 or 9 stops but I think most of them were on the dive play Clemson kept running. in that game and I know its just one game but he seemed to struggle sideline to sideline and getting off blocks. he just looked slow to me. I may be wrong I know he probably looked great against Indiana, purdue, and Minnesota. I just don't want another thad Gibson or even worse Vernon gloston

The only position on defense I want at #15 is CB not impressed with those ILB's, too early for Shazier Ohio State defense got exposed at the end of the season.

Shazier is the epitome of a playmaker. He is the best blitzing ILB in the draft, and he has elite speed for the position. Idk how his game translates to 3-4 ILB instead of 4-3 OLB, but I'd sure be glad to have him. He was about the only guy on OSU's D this year (outside of Bosa #97) who really made plays on a consistent basis.

Steel, I don't remember him looking slow during that game... but I'm a huge OSU fan, so I was watching the game as a fan instead of watching Ryan. I would've liked to see him run in the combine, because I know at OSU he was a sub 4.5 guy in the drills they ran there.

I think I remember an interview where he said he's run 4.4x everytime he's run the 40. His vertical was impressive, though. I don't really recall him looking slow in the Orange Bowl. It seemed like there was just a lot of confusion on defense in general. It's on my rewatch list.

Our defense is a mess lol Luke Fickell is just about as clueless as it comes as a DC. I'm surprised he still has his job... I would've fired him the second the Orange Bowl ended.

I didn't know he said that he's run 4.4x in every 40 he's run. Wouldn't surprise me one bit though. His straight line speed is impressive.

Idk how his game translates to the 3-4 ILB position. I just don't know enough about the position to make that type of assessment. Purely as a player tho, he is every bit good enough to warrant the 15th pick. He's the only Buckeye that I think is good enough to be a 1st round pick this year.

I think that's originally what was great about the 3-4. I think it was to get more speed and playmakers on the field. all of the sudden you have to have guys who fit the position. I think if he can blitz and play in space he would be fine at ilb. that's what I like about Timmons. really he can play inside or outside. what do you think about roby?

4.4+ speed for him would be impressive. I didn't think he would run that maybe a 4.7? I just see Farrior in this kid. I pray a trade down is the call on draft day s I think a top notch CB will be around between 15-20. Think of the possibilities with Shazier and someone like Gilbert ( yes, he won't go past 10) or Robinson ( he may see the 15-20 range) as that alone would be a boost to this D IMMEDIATELY

I like the Farrior comparison when it comes to Shazier. Both of that WLB body which I think translates well to the inside of a 3-4. While he has Farrior's build, I think Shazier possess Troy Polamalu's instincts. He is always at the ball. He is definitely going to be a high level player in the NFL.

I wouldn't complain much if we went shazier 1. roby 2. they were the best two off that defense. both have speed and playmaking ability. it would definitely bolster our defense, add much needed speed and get troy out of the box.

I can only imagine how hard DL must be championing Shazier throughout this process.

I agree and the same for roby. he makes a lot of plays in run support too. DL loves those type of corners.

It's not that I don't like Roby, he just had an inconsistent 2013. Had two bad games I remember in particular (Wisconsin and Northwestern). Expectations for him were high after his All-American 2012... He wasn't bad, just wasn't an All-American again. He's probably a 2nd round guy.

Interesting factoid: Shazier's vertical at the combine was the 2nd best since 2006. Rocky McIntosh had the best in 2006.
