He's in the last year of his contact and if you extend him you can lower his cap hit in 2014. I would give him a 2 year extension and in the last year if he can't perform at a high level then release him.

Considering how bad we sucked without him and how much better they started playing when he came back, yes, you extend him without a doubt.

Yeah, and that was with Heath playing like crap (by his standards).

Absolutely extend him. And I'd give him more than two years.

I agree that they really should extend him. But, do they have the money to do so? They restructured him last year and he has a huge cap hit this year because of it. At some point the team has to stop passing the buck down the line and make the hard decisions, or they will never get out of the cap hell they're in right not.

That being said, they really should find a way to get this done, without mortgaging the future.

I know that RIGHT NOW we don't look like we are in great cap shape, but don't worry, the FO is going to make some moves that are going to limit our problems:

    - Releasing Levi Brown
    - Extending Big Ben
    - Extending Troy
    - Extending Heath
    - Re-structure Antonio Brown
    - Paycut for Ike Taylor
    - Cutting Woodley (more of a savings for 2015+2016)

heathmiller should be restructrured like this

5-year, 25 million contract w/ a $7 million SB , would be good for the cap and easily mortaging at the end

Restructuring and extending are two different things. I wouldn't be opposed to extending him for 2 years with an option for a 3rd.

Unfortunately for Heath, the team is really deep at the TE position and they really don't need him at this point.........:lolol:

If there is anyone on this team that should be worry free about job security it is Heath. Clone him and field ten of him and they can give the Steelers the Lombardi Trophy every year.

Absolutely we should extend him. This is an easy decision for the front office IMO.

Extend him...hell, make him part owner if you have to! Sell children on the black market, deal drugs, rob banks...whatever it takes to keep him here!

Heath will retire a Steeler. He will be extended, has so much left in the tank. Can't see a 1st used on a tight end.
    Need Defense and Defense...

What happened to all the people who wanted to dump Heath part way through last season?
