that's why you want him, so we don't have to defend him. LOL

actually that's why I'd like a guy like Sorensen over the top. good speed, good ball skills and size to cover the big TE's. we can call them anything we like, safety, cornerback but when they can do it all with speed and coverage and tackling skills, then we can just call them champs.

 

To me, the short area quickness is important, but if you are lined up across from someone like AJ Green and he just runs right past you, his short area speed doesn't help you. I think a LOT of this has to do with who the player is covering as well.

I also wonder the following...is it possible that Dennard HAS to fight in order to compete due to either lack of speed or lack of skill whereas Gilbert sometimes looks maybe lazy due to how easy the game comes to him?

 

IDT Dennard will run slow. His fighting attitude and swagger came from playing on a defensive unit that was bad *ss. They were just so physical and tough, and used that swagger to intimidate and demoralize their opponents. Gilbert played in the Big 12. Not that it isn't a better conference than the Big 10 (because it is), but they aren't really known for great defense and physical play. I think both guys can play in the NFL, and I think it will come down to the preference of the teams selecting early CB's to determine who comes off the board first. I'd be stoked with either of them in the B&G.
