    Crazy! I like it!

The Steelers are slowly but surely ruining the party for those who shoot down the idea of players coming back to coach.

Hopefully Peezy helps JJ out. I like this hire and think he can help out.

I know this isn't what a coach is really meant for, but I hope he can instill a bit of attitude in our defense. They really haven't had anyone that could trash talk and get in someone's head like him since he left. Harrison, while certainly intimidating in his days, was rather quiet on the field.

Hopefully he will instill some of his fire into the defense.

I think Cam is coming into his own in that department. At least talk/attitude wise. Doubt he'll end up as intimidating as Harrison was though.

    Who Ride... We Ride.....

I do miss Joey Porter, welcome back. Maybe he will roll up his coaching jacket and show off his six pack, just like the old days.

Me too! Steelers are definitely getting a thumbs up from me on the staff they are putting together. I feel that will be a very big strength this season.

    Aren't most coaches former players?
I think what some were saying myself included was that every player that's at the end of their career isn't going to be coaching for the team they retire from the following season.
Glad to see Porter coaching here though.

Maybe? I don't know. That would be an interesting statistic. It doesn't really apply here though as we're talking about former Steelers players coming back to coach. I think what I said was reasonable. This makes 3 former Steelers on the coaching staff now.

Of course not every player, but some people, (yourself included since you mentioned it) have a difficult time acknowledging that any player at the end of his career will return to coach. I didn't realize those conversations centered around the premise of the player returning the very next season.

If ever they needed a guy to light some fires under arses Peezy is the man to get it done. I'm sure that played a big part in why they hired him. I'd love to see our LB corp get some of his fire in their guts!

Not sure what kind of coach he will be..... but I sure am glad to see some FIRE back on the sidelines. If anyone can bring that heart & desire, I would think Joey could do it. Glad to have him back.

Wonder what the over/under is on a sideline incident where he runs on the field and makes a tackle?

I believe their are a few current players that would make excellent coaches some day. My argument in the past has been that it's unrealistic to think some of these guys (example: Charlie Batch) retire from playing in the NFL and the following season he is coaching in the NFL. Does it happen? I'm sure it has, but I'd bet it is a very small percentage?

I always felt the best coaches were players that were never stars, but maybe made it to the NFL because they had exceptional NFL smarts or a deeper drive that other didn't, yet at the same time their physical gifts were limited.

Cowher would be a good example...

The following season? Maybe none? I don't recall that being something people want. Honestly, though...who cares. I'm excited Peazy is back. :rawk:

Again I see things a little different. He isn't going to have the impact that munchak will. He will be a defensive asst, just like Jerry O. Its a low level coaching job, mainly breaking down tape for the Position coaches and Co-ordinators and helping the position coaches teach technique in drills.

Is it possible Tomlin is preparing his defensive coaching staff for a change next year like DL re-tiring, Butler moving to DC and Jerry O. moving to LB coach and Porter replacing Jerry full-time.

I do hope he helps bring back some fire to that side of the ball.
