If the Steelers don't take him in round 7 I will personally assume it is because he is gay and they don't want the attention.

Teams don't want Tebow on their team because they don't want a distraction. Tebow would be a better back-up than most NFL QBs.

Tebow brought the attention on himself by being flashy with his faith (Polamalu doesn't have 3:16 on his eyeblack). Sam has not brought attention on himself other than stating his orientation (if he starts wearing lipstick it would be different).

If Sam isn't drafted it is because of his orientation. All I ever hear is how superior the SEC is to every other conference... and the SEC DPOY doesn't get drafted? Why?

Actually, I wasn't joking...it was completely incidental. Your post is a little too risque for this site though methinks.

I'm still with you on this. He's been slipping down the boards DPOY or not. If he already told his teammates about it last year then I don't think he's trying to throw it out there, but the media will take it and run if he drops off the draft or too far down. Probably have a bunch of Hollywood actors condemning the NFL and it's culture. Might cause Goodell to make a call and sweeten the pot next year in terms of compensatory picks if a team takes him 4th or 5th round.

He wouldn't be that much of a steal there are reports he struggled at the Senior Bowl practices as a OLB.

    He has a point.

Correct me if my memory is faulty, but didn't we make the SB the season after Ben's drama in GA?

Right now, the real issue should be "can he play?" Opinions differ there. Considering that most NFL teams seem to have already known for a long time his persuasion, a cynical person might think that some of the naysaying is agenda driven. I'm not one of them. His size is just fine for a 3-4 OLB. He was good at pushing upfield at DE, but wasn't consistent enough and seemed like his bag of tricks was limited. But can he play OLB? Most sources say he struggled in drills. Now, drills aren't everything. But they do indicate that he has "project" written all over him. Not necessarily a bad thing. But a team looking to fill a hole won't have the patience to develop a player.

James Harrison wasn't a stellar OLB overnight. He took time to develop. OTOH, for every James Harrison, there are dozens if not hundreds of players who just can't cut it at the NFL level despite having the raw talent, physical tools, or even collegiate success.

I'm a little confused here.A lot of you are saying OLB is not a position of need correct me if I am wrong here but they have Woodley who many want to see cut in order to get more space under the cap and Jarvis Jones as the only two OLB'ers under contract. Worilds and Carter are both up for FA right meaning that there is zero starting quality players waiting in the wings plenty of project guys but no solid starters. So unless they move Timmons to the outside because of a log jam of again project guys at inside linebacker how is OLB not a position of need?

You are very correct, however, I can't imagine that we would lose BOTH Worilds & Woodley. Either we let Worilds walk and retain Woodley, or we sign Worilds to a long term contract and cut ties with Woodley. Adding another OLB should still be a fairly significant priority (3rd or 4th round).
