I can't see us giving up our second rounder to do this.

wow. I've read TB has serious intentions of shopping that pick for more picks. I'm not so sold on this kid. his pass blocking is not the greatest. heck adams can run block.

I'm not sure they give beachum a slap in the face either. not with his hard work, brains and improvement still happening. they have him very cheap for a starting LT too. which is important this year. I think we can long term him cheaply too.

now, if it was for someone else, we may consider it. though really I'm not sure who would be worth that expense.

Without holding a 3rd round pick this would surprise me.

In addition, this doesn't really seem to fit our normal draft philosophy. The Steelers typically will trade up in the first round for someone on the "can't pass over" list who they REALLY want. Is Robinson one of those guys? I don't think so. There will be other guys at 15 who may make more sense and although they may not meet our major needs could be difference makers for us.

Personally, if we move on this draft, I want to move into the 20s, pick up a 2nd round draft pick or more next year and still get someone like Gilbert or Mosley assuming a major guy is not there at 15. I wouldn't pass on Evans or Watkins, but everyone else I would be willing to move back for.

last week I would have hated this but since we have munchak all robinson needs is coached a little bit. he struggles in pass protection but its all footwork from what I hear. we all agree left tackle is a major hole and we have complained about it for a few years. I wouldn't hate it but he could be there at 15 anyway. I would do the trade but if he is around 11 or 12 and someone wants to fall back , I would do it

I'm almost ready to move down with the skins to the 2nd pick in the 2nd round and possibly another this year and something from them next year, with all the talent still sitting on the board early in the 2nd.

maybe their 2nd and 3rd and a 1st next year. they have no 1st, nor does indy. maybe grab a van noy and Matthews both in the 2nd get a 3rd comp and a 3rd from Washington too and a 1st or second next year. any of you draft points guru's know what it would cost?

I think picking 15 gives us a lot of options. if one of the qbs fall and team wants to jump up they will over pay to do it. I like your scenario

Draft value chart would have our pick (#15) at 1050 points. Washington's second rounder (34) is 560, and third rounder (66) is 260. Probably the best we could hope for would be Washington's 2nd next year if they give up their third, maybe their first rounder if they only give up their second. But I don't see Washington trading away their first rounder for a third consecutive year.

Even though in another thread I made a semi-plausible case for Jake Matthews falling to #11, the reality is that Jake Matthews will probably go in the Top 5. If he does, you can be sure the Atlanta Falcons will be snapping up the next best OT (possibly Robinson) @ #6.

    I would be shocked, considering
the holes we have in our roster. Not saying that we do not need help@OT position. We better find some
    cb's and safety's that can play quickly.And ILB,OLB.

They need to stay where they are or trade back. We need depth and all the picks we can get from this draft, which is considered pretty deep, with plenty of talent being available into the 5th round. I hope they don't plan on drafting around 15 again anytime soon. So take advantage of this positioning.
The team I can see us trading back with is the 49ers. They have like 13 picks in the draft. They have. 1 first,2 seconds, 3 thirds etc...they even have 4 sevenths. Crazy!. They may be lookin to move up quite a bit in the first to grab someone they feel puts them over the top. Where we are sitting puts them right in the middle of things.

#1 adams is terrible and will never be a franchise LT.. secondly ... a lot of mocks have the steelers taking lewan.... a lot more mocks have the ravens taking lewan... remember the ravens 2 OTs are free agents... they would probably like to sign one .. and replace the other with lewan... sooooooo we need an OT and if we take lewan at 15 we get a potentially killer OT andddddddddddd keep the ravens from getting their #1 target.. so its an offensive move and a defensive move against the ravens... kill 2 birds with one stone ..

I think you are missing Steel's point.

If you read the scouting report of Mike Adams prior to the draft and compare it to the one about Lewan, I think you will find a LOT of similarities. So the question then becomes the following...is there a chance that they turn into the same pro, or is it likely that Lewan....who is slipping down the boards as at one point he was a top 10 pick now I am seeing him in the late teens and 20s....becomes a dominant LT in this league.

its all a crap shoot .. i mean ralph sampson was drafted over michael jordan and we all know how that turned out .. but id rather take lewan with our 15 pick than trade up and get robinson... and lose another pick... anddddd at least now i think he have a great OL coach to coach the guys up... hopefully

i would take an athletic left tackle , not a mauler in middle rounds and i will give him to munchak to train , we need a good footwork guy ,the rest will be coached

    yankey.

with the addition of munchak, I think it opens options that I was really on the fence with before and may be open to now. kouandjio (sp?). Richardson. yankey. all these guys have decent feet and could easily be refined by MM. I'm wondering how far the kid from NC will fall? wentworth. britt. Johnson. there is some talent but I agree freak good footwork , mobility and decent in pass protection first. I know I've never been sold on lewan. maybe it's the Michigan thing. LOL:cool:

I'd be happy going into the season with what we have and see what Munchak can do with them.

There's plenty of talent for him to mold IMO.

Yes, if they go into camp with what they have, I'l take that as an endorsement by Munchak.

:lolol: That's funny mac but I really do believe that there is some talent to work with.

IMO we have a very solid, if unspectacular, LT in Beachum. Two very talented interior lineman in Pouncey and DeCastro and a road-grader RT in Adams. I think we could add some interior lineman in the draft or UDFA's. I'm not thrilled with Gilbert but I do believe he would make a nice swing T. Foster is the guy that I'd bring in competition for..
