Two draft related articles I've read this morning on two different sites (Rotoworld and SBNation) said the Steelers are set to let Keisel and Hood leave via free agency. Did I miss an interview with Colbert in the past few days?

I didn't see anything about it. Can't say I would be overly surprised but if that's true, I think we'll see a major shake up this off season.

Its just speculation. I think its been speculated for months now about that. Though I think they could bring Hood back if he is reasonable.

Thanks guys. I figured it was the usual 'rumor mill reporting', but was wondering where they might be getting that from.:???:

I honestly would be surprised if we didn't bring them both back.

Hood actually started playing well towards the end. I believehe ended with 3.5 sacks which is average for our de

I would bring back Hood because he's still young but wouldn't overpay for him, Kiesel can leave it's time to move on.

There are a couple of reasons I resign Keisel...

    1. If Hood leaves via Free agency

    2. If they don't feel they can get any meaningful snaps, and by that I mean 10 -15 a game at most from one of N. Williams or Arnfelt.

I could see our Dline being a combination of...Hood, Keisel, Heyward, Arnfelt, Woods, N. Williams, McLendon, and Fangupo. That gives you 8 guys to choose from, add in a couple of UDFAs and that is a pretty solid group to choose from.

I feel this is a consensus among fans due to Hood being a disappointing 1st rd pick and keisel Aging.

I know this is old and ya'll disagree with me But I'd give Hood a cap friendly 4 yr deal and bring back Brett at vet min. I'd move to a 4-3 with LDE-RDE being Heyward,Hood,Woods & McLendon With Back-ups Fangupo, Brett, Nick Williams and Brian Arnfelt.

We have serious issues with our OLBers/depth. We cut Woodley, and hopefully resign Worilds but even if we can't resign Worilds this works. JJ is much better equipped to play 4-3 OLB Wil , Timmons to Sam and Vince/Spence to Mike with Sly, Garvin and Westerman as back-ups and ????. Cut foote and chris carter. To me this fits schematically with our players and cap.

    Off my soap box....sorry.

Well, I was with you up until the scheme change. I would bring them both back, and then pick from a pool of players for the roster positions pretty much allowing us to ignore the position in the draft. Same cannot be said for any other position on the defense.

I think you can make the argument that even if we go with the same guys on offense this coming year with the exception of a few minor changes, we would be okay assuming we have player development and improvement. The same cannot be said about our LBs and DBs. These positions NEED major upgrades.

We may be okay at the LB positions, but that is starters only IMO. We have ZERO depth.
