Yeah I think it would take an insane deal like the redskins gave for rg3 to get Ben

    Couple of notes:

    1. To compare value it would take to get Ben with Alex Smith is insulting.

    2. While we MIGHT move Ben, unlike SF, we don't NEED to move him. Add that to the value he is already above A. Smith, and the discussion should start with a #1 and go up from there.

    3. The only way the Steelers move Ben is if the deal is insane.

I think the insanity would be to move Ben in the first place.

It depends on what you get in exchange. I don't think you take anything off the table. But with regard to the article, this is just another guy with an internet connection typing whatever he wants. Hey wait, that sounds like me.

If they told me I had to trade this whole roster Ben would literally be the absolute last person I would get rid of. I just can't see the Rooney's doing this and especially not this year with them apparently looking at defensive players and wide receivers at senior bowl week.

By insane, I mean something like....

    Ricky Williams trade at draft....

    Washington Received

    • Pick #12 (Rd. 1) in the 1999 NFL Draft
    • Pick #71 (Rd. 3) in the 1999 NFL Draft
    • Pick #106 (Rd. 4) in the 1999 NFL Draft
    • Pick #144 (Rd. 5) in the 1999 NFL Draft
    • Pick #179 (Rd. 6) in the 1999 NFL Draft
    • Pick #218 (Rd. 7) in the 1999 NFL Draft
    • Pick #2 (Rd. 1) in the 2000 NFL Draft
    • Pick #64 (Rd. 3) in the 2000 NFL Draft
    New Orleans Received

    • Pick #5 (Rd.1) in the 1999 NFL Draft

Maybe something like the 8 draft picks for Herschel Walker.

Those would be the only time I would consider it. Even then it must be an admission that we are rebuilding.

    that is insane
and the only way I would do it too
I'm hard on Ben butt not willing to just get rid of him

in hindsight Ditka could have said 1 ounce for Ricky

the Walker trade was a little different wasn't it the entire offensive line from minny?

I don't know I think it might've taken a whole patch for Williams. LOL. Yeah those are colossal trades. It's crazy to think that happened. That move probably forever tarnished the legacy of Ditka and I don't see the Rooney's ever going for something like that.

First of all, if we want a shot at sniffing the postseason for the next 3-4 seasons we need to re-sign Ben. But, if Ben plays hardball and an owner out there loses his mind and offers us the keys to the kingdom, you've at least got to keep your options open. But the way I see it, the Steelers have Ben for a minimum of the next 3 years if they franchise him.

As if we could even sign all the possible picks anyhow. Hahahaha not too mention half of wouldn't see the field for 3 years. No thanks some teams have spent decades worth of countless picks trying to field a half ass decent QB and Ben is far above half ass decent.

Hmmm... so "sources" have told the author that the Rooney's are reluctant to give Ben a new contract. We all know that "sources" are never wrong, so we may as well have that going away party now.

Seriously though, I do have a concern that Ben's camp will ask for an extension that is simply beyond what the team will commit to, and that an impasse could be a difficult distraction in 2014. He actually has 2 years left on his contract, not one like the author reported. I would really like to see him get resigned this offseason so that the team knows exactly what it has available in funds to build around him for a run in the 2015-16 time frame. I don't see a plausible scenario where the team moves him this offseason, but next year could be a different scenario if there is truly a huge gap.

All he's doing is reporting the same garbage as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network did last season. Art Rooney II said he wants Ben to retire a Steeler.

We would actually have no problem signing all of those draft pics. Ben will probably get near 20 million per year. If he does that leaves 2.5 million per player per year. Jarvis Jones rookie contract will cost the team 2.125 million per year as a first round pick. We could sign all of those picks and still have money left over.

Now that being said, it honestly doesn't make sense for us at the moment. Like you mentioned, you need a plan for a QB replacement, especially when you are dumping a franchise QB like Ben.
