Do you have confidence in Steelers GM Kevin Colbert to get team back into the playoffs?

I actually think you're being sarcastic. I'm not POSITIVE but just a hunch. I'm sorta with mac in that I don't think we have enough defensive pieces in place to be a really serious contender. We've GOT to fix our run d for SURE and who do we have to be a true number one corner going forward? I was just saying the other day that I'm actually more concerned with the defense than I am with the o line.

We have some good pieces in place already but the question is, do you think Colbert can find the remaining pieces to lead us back to the playoffs?

I do not want to offend anyone. I certainly do not have the Steelers knowledge that many of you have here. But I do have a lot of experience in management. It appears that the Steelers are at a turning point. The organization has been blessed by the success of the team and longevity of its players. Sometimes success can blind you from what needs to be done. Even as the results become less favorable, organizations that have been successful in the past have a difficult time making the hard decisions that are needed because they believe they are close to regaining their prior success. I read a lot on this board that we are close. I hope that is the case. I have to say that I am becoming increasingly concerned that the Steelers are not facing reality and are avoiding the difficult decisions that are needed. We just went 8-8 two seasons in a row and the HC, OC and DC all kept their jobs. No hard decisions were made after either season. Is that because of faith in the future or denial of it?

I actually agree with a lot of what you say. I don't think we're as "close" as we need to be. I just don't know if we have the depth that we need. I don't think it would be a good idea to let Tomlin and Lebeau go either. I honestly don't feel like I will get a full evaluation on Tomlin until I see him try and get his own franchise qb. I don't think Tomlin is a bad coach and I'm not saying we would have won more or less Super Bowls if Cowher would've stayed. I just think it is gonna be really fascinating to see him go after a franchise qb and I want to see that happen.
