I forgot to tell you guys that when I saw this headline I held my hands up in victory and yelled "YES!!!" and my wife goes "WHAT?" and I said "We got Mike Munchak as our o line coach!" and she took this melancholy tone and said "Oh that's just another coach you'll be screaming should be fired before long..." (She's probably right) BUT FOR NOW I'M CELEBRATING!!! LOL!

LOL! That's awesome dude! I think all of our wives should start their OWN site as like a "support group" for ladies that have to deal with hardcore Steelers fans. LOL. Someone could make a FORTUNE!

You must have a great job.

    I'll coach the Browns tomorrow...

At the going rate for a middle of the road NFL HC's salary? Who cares if I get fired after 8 games? :D And sure, it would look bad. What, with my waving a Terrible Towel at games against the Steelers and all. But really. I couldn't possibly make them worse. :roflmao:

Great hire! I was worried for a minute as his interview was friday and didn't hear anything for a few days. But glad we got him. I remember when he played. Did a fine job with the Titans oline. Hopefully it will transpire to ours.

Wow, late to the party but I am THRILLED! :clapping::towel:

I actually went from the floor to the ceiling. Before reading about the Munchak hire, I read that Bob Bostad got hired by Tennessee. After cursing for a while, I came across the Munchak story and immediately, my spirits were lifted. I love Bostad, but Munchak is the best possible hire.

Even more cause for optimism heading into next season!

Just another thought to throw out there. Munchak is a well respected O-line coach and O-linemen tend to love playing for him. Remember how Chance Warmack gushed that he wanted to play for the Titans because of Munchak/Matthews before he was even drafted by them?

My thought is, do you think Munchak might be able to lure any potential free agents out there to Pittsburgh, possibly even on the cheap? There's alot of pretty good FA OTs out there. And I know it won't happen, but man would I love to see Alex Mack in a Steelers uniform. Maurkice has played in 46 games since he entered the league in 2010. Since Mack joined the league in 2009, he has started all 80 games. That's toughness.

Love this hire, just for the fact that we'll have 3 guys as assistants/coordinators with head coaching experience. WOW, how many teams can say they've got that much experience? I would think having so many experienced coaches would help make things easier for Tomlin, so he can work on some new clichés and stuff.

What I get no love? I know I was 24 hours later but I hadn't read the comment in the other thread when I started a thread about this. Remember everyone said he wouldn't return to position coaching. lol Sorry one of my first posts actually turned out to be a reality little surprised myself.

Well, I'm late as usual, due to work of course, but I gotta say how thrilled and shocked I am. I totally dismissed this as a possibility since a HC rarely moves back down to position coach. ( Former HC Mularky now titans TE coach ) But its not unheard of now.

A couple of notes: Read his Bio, there was quite simply no-one better qualified, maybe even over-qualified. He has a lot of raw talent here to work with and I see Gilbert,DD and Beachum becoming top notch players and DD heading to the pro-bowl. Adams, if he doesn't win back his starting position in 2 years he won't be re-signed, they'll cut their loses.

Pouncey may now be allowed to leave when he becomes a UFA. He'll be expensive and by then Munchak will have Wallace or Velasco or ???? ready to step in. Also pounce hasn't been real durable.

Scheme?: I think we'll see a return to last year's attempt at moving from a man to a ZBS and with more success. I also predict we'll be running both schemes during the season and Bell may also be a probowler next year.

NO WAY this happens but just imagine, for a brief moment, if we could sign C Alex Mack, then move Pouncey to LG!!!!!! Add in FA RB LaGarrett Blount and we'd just dominate, two 1000yd rushers, and Ben's Career extended 2yrs.

    One can dream...................................

Grimm was a good coach and he was a good player in Washington. I think Munchak will do good here. The problem is someone may take him as an O coordinator. Remember he advertised himself as wanting an O Line position because he never was and wanted to be a coordinator. Lets home he stays a few years then gets lost in the shuffle IF he is doing good for us

Well, they couldn't pay me enough to sell my soul. Plus, I was thinking that it would have to be really worth my while to turn into a walking internet meme. I didn't consider pimping the Steelers gear, though.

I guess this draft will tell us what Munchak thinks about the pieces we have in place. If they go OL in the first, he's saying, "hell no, I can't do anything with them" if they draft later rounds, he's saying, "I'll get them right".
