Wow...when someone first mentioned this him as someone we should interview a couple weeks ago I immediately dismissed it as a pipe dream. Home run hire for sure. I almost won't believe it for sure until training camp.

Great news! He'll be great for all of the young guys on the line. He'll turn DeCastro into an All-Pro and will do wonders for Gilbert and Adams.

Question two now becomes does the LG that declared from Stanford move up the Steeler's big board? According to what I read on him and what Mac has been saying he was gained honors last year at both tackle positions and this year at left guard and could be better than DD. especially at pulling.

I love this hire but just a question. is everyone happy because he is a great oline coach or because he was a great lineman? I have heard that not every great player can coach because not everyone can do what they did. tomlin hit a home run here for sure though

 

I just think we've got enough invested in first and second round draft choices on the offensive line as it is. It's time we get a coach in there that knows how to coach these guys up to the next level and it looks like we've finally found one.

 

But it is a question worth asking if there is a guy there who can play both tackle positions and guard wouldn't you have to take a look? Especially if people wanna give up on a few of those first and second round guys. Haven't been following the draft threads much but it sounds like the quality we crave at skill positions can be had in the middle rounds

 

I honestly think the talent is there but it's woefully underperformed. Munchak will get the most out of them. There are too many other pressing needs like CB, WR, ILB to make the first pick an OL IMHO. I'm leaning toward one of the top corners who not only know how to catch the ball, but also know what to do with it once it's in their hands.

I think Beachum can hold down the fort at LT and earned the opportunity to start there next season. Munchak will love Beachum's work ethic and desire.

 

So does anyone else wonder how this many former HC's can peacefully coexist together?

 

i think your ego takes a hit when you get fired. shouldnt be a problem. should be a major plus with players

 

I think once the prestige of the position wears off a lot of these guys realize that yeah the money is good but all the job entails is not for them. I have seen plenty of former HC who seem more than happy to go back to being coordinators or assistant head coaches, less stress and pressure.

 

I hope you are right. If this team could develop a dominating O-line it could go all the way!
