This team has a lot work to do this offseason first he needs to have a great draft, and decide who stays or goes free agents on the team. This team is not that far away from reclaiming the AFC North just need to fix the defense, and win 2 more games than last season.

Yep. I do. They were within an inch of making the Playoffs this year with an 8-8 record. 9-7 is almost a lock for the playoffs anymore with all of the parity. I have a feeling they will go into the schedule next year with a sense of learning and urgency to right the ship. At least I hope so. If they start out 0-2 or 0-3 next season I will be screaming for MT to get the axe.

    The 2008 draft notwithstanding, YES.

But I think last offseason was a bad one for Colbert. He let Lewis get away, which may have been a foregone conclusion anyway given the hometown connections, but Colbert and the Steelers didn't even try to keep him. There were no key free agent signings even though we had holes to fill at LB and DB. I think the Steelers and Colbert need to be a little more active in the free agent market this year. Not necessarily with splash signings but with the under the radar kinds of signings to fill key roles that they've become known for. They also need to cut bait with some aging, ineffective veterans, some of whom they've held onto a season or two too long. Mission number one this off-season: sign Jason Worilds!

It's not all on Colbert to make that happen but....yeah, we'll be back next season.

Yes. I have total faith in them to right the ship. When you've been at or near the top for 10+ years you're bound to come down for a bit. It's just the way the game is setup with the draft and free agency.

    No.

Actually, yes. I just wanted to make the thread a bit less one-sided.

nope. playoffs maybe but that's not what I want to see. I want a team that's capable of winning in the playoffs, not just making them. two 8-8 seasons, with still a lot of question marks all over the team. the north shouldn't be that hard to win though. I don't want to back in on a technicality. I don't have a lot of faith in MT and Colbert picking players, keeping players, or getting rid of players.

Yes. I don't think it's all his fault when it comes to the draft. Some players just don't pan out. I think some of it belongs on Khan and these blotted contracts.

Didn't we say this in the off season after the last two 8-8 seasons, I haven't seen any urgency starting the new season after either 8-8 season and don't expect this new year to be any different....

Between drafts that weren't good enough to maintain or replenish the talent we had, and annually mismanaging our salary cap ... no, I have no confidence in Kevin Colbert rebuilding this roster. Odds are pretty good that come September, we'll have nothing left to show for our 2006, 2008 & 2009 drafts, and the returns for 2007 have been declining right along with LaMarr Woodley's performance. You simply can't afford a string of drafts like that ... especially when you only play on the shallow end of the free agent pool.

Now it's time for Clark, Keisel, and Taylor to go, and the guys that will replace them are not likely to be upgrades.

I will be shocked if this team wins 9 games next season.

Yes, I thought he had a heck of a draft last year, do that again and we are well on our way to being on top of the division again. They had a couple of 8-8 seasons, not like they went 2-14 and 3-13.

I am going with no. Colbert hasn't had a good draft in years and he does next to nothing in free agency.

Even Bobby Beathard drafted Ryan Leaf, I'll cut him some slack. I would rather have him then go out and hire somebody who hasn't built a roster that has won 2 Superbowls. Not many guys out there with that resume.

100% agree with this statement. I think they hold on to players too long.
