I don't know about you guys but the media makes him out to be a stellar QB and out of the 5 games I watched him play, which includes this last NFC championship game all I see is a running QB, a Michael Vick who can only hit wide open receivers and if they aren't wide open he runs. This may be great now but he won't make more than 5 years, what got me mad was the stat line, 153 yards passing an 130 rushing while Frank Gore had 14 yards, look at the Seahawks and Lynch had a great game and Wilson passed the ball, big difference in how each plays the game. My prediction is the 49ers don't get this far next year because all of the teams are beginning to figure out how to play defense against the pistol style , read option offense that they use and rely on, everyone they played this season seemed to get better at defending it and to be honest, this is my biggest problem with Kapernick, I don't think he can do anything but the read option, so I'll give him 5 more years before the team moves on when he gets hit to the point he starts losing a step and his legs can no longer outrun DBs, you aren't fast forever.

I'm not totally sold on him either. I think Russell Wilson is a lot more of an accomplished qb. Kaepernick doesn't seem like he's got it mentally as far as reading defenses and things like that. He does have a great arm though.

He can make throws, the TD pass where he threw a laser when he left his feet was pretty awesome. Overall though, yes, I'd say he is a bit overrated, especially in relation to Jaws saying he could be the best ever by the time he is done.

    He said that?

LOL. What a tool. Even me, Joe Ordinary fan, can see that Kapernick is just a mediocre flash in the pan who won't amount to anything other than a footnote in NFL history. Same with Russell Wilson.

Im so sick and tired of the love-affair with the "Running, read option QB who is going to change the way the position is played" QB. They've been saying that for nearly 20 years now...since Kordell was the toast of the league...and it has yet to happen. Kordell, Vick, RG3, Kapernick, they're all the same. Superior athletes who are marginal at best at throwing the ball and rely too heavily on their legs and are nothing more than flashes in the pan who burn-out quickly. Eventually they will have to beat you throwing the ball and THEY CAN'T DO IT ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. None of them. Why the national talking heads continue to perpetrate this notion is beyond me and frankly is getting old and disgusting. :frustrated:

Kaepernick the best ever? PUHLEAZE!!!

That distinction, in my mind, will belong to one Peyton Manning if he wins this Super Bowl. In fact, it may already belong to him. He is a robot, a machine. He's playing the best football of his career at 37 years old because he recognizes that his brain is as important to his success as his arm. Kaepernick is a good young QB, but at the end of the day he will not be the best ever. RIDICULOUS!

Completely disagree about Wilson, the kid is going to be the next Brees. He's done nothing but get better. Look at his stats over the first two years. Almost the entirety of the first half of the game last night the only offense Seattle could muster was a result of Wilson.

I was paraphrasing so I looked it up, I was close, he said could be one of the greatest ever. http://nfl.si.com/2013/08/21/colin-kaepernick-best-quarterback-ron-jaworski/

I agree with you though, flavor of the month.

The greatest of all time is Tom Terrific and Kaepernick is not even worthy to be mentioned in the same encyclopedia with him. Wilson I do think is the real deal though. Actually I saw a stat yesterday that said if Wilson wins the SB he will have the most wins in NFL history for his first two years in the league. He is tied with one Big Ben Roethlisberger at 27. If Wilson wins the SB he will get to 28 and be the highest winning qb over his first 2yrs in the league ever. However, Ben had less games than him because of the injury. So Wilson is at 27-9 and Ben was at 27-4. So Ben could've had it if he hadn't gotten hurt.

Yeah I may have over reacted with Wilson. He's more of a mobile QB than a runner. Looks a little too much like Tiger Woods though.

8 AFC Championships. 5 Super Bowls. 3 wins. 18 playoff wins. League MVPs. Super Bowl MVPs. Never had the weapons others have had. That is an incomparable resume.

    Agree. He's the 2nd greatest.
My opinion (which is obviously limited to the guys that I've seen)

    1) Montana
    2) Brady
    3) Marino
    4) Manning
    5) Elway

I don't even know if I could put him second in that list, Bobby. I agree with your number one for sure.

Blount, you're crazy if you'd take Brady over Montana

IF he DOES get 4 will you bump him up? I love Joe BIG TIME and would probably put him number 1 if I wasn't gonna say Brady was. I just think Brady has done more with less. They both are extremely clutch and reminiscent of the other really. Neither are mobile. Neither are very "athletic" guys. BOTH have ice water in their veins and only care about winning. Brady played like garbage yesterday though, honestly. He missed a LOT of WIDE open guys and his deep ball was lacking accuracy big time. He is still better than Peyton though.

Seems to me you forgot the blond bomber, I guess I just expected him to get some love on thesteelerfans website.

I also put Elway over Marino.

Is Favre not even in anyone's Top 10? He doesn't seem to have left a huge imprint in people's minds. I mean he had all the records when he quit but maybe the INT record keeps him back? Or maybe the drawn out farewell tour that lasted like 5 years? Favre is one of my all time favorites but I really don't know where to rank him.

When Brady comes back from back surgery to play at a high level, he MIGHT be able to caddy for Montana on the golf course.

He came back from a torn ACL and he has won an MVP since then.

Of that list I would say
    Brady
    Montana
    Elway
    Marino
    Manning

Although Manning and Marino are pretty much the same to me just like Montana and Brady are.

    :roflmao:

Saw him play against the Falcons when he was with the Chiefs. Had one of his best games as a Chief. 300+ yards, 3 TDs. He was the old Joe Cool that night in Atlanta!

He's a legend for sure. So do you rank him above Brady or Brady above him? Or do you just view them both with such disdain that that it's impossible to allow your mind to view them objectively much like it is for me and manning? LOL.
