Dear lord a lot of BS has been churned about this (locally and nationally) in the past few days. Bouchette and Dulac seem to have different opinions and I'm seeing Tennessee newspapers basically regurgitating what Ed has been saying- that the team would allow him to interview, which is a contradiction of what he said a couple days prior. Nobody sites a source, though...

As of right now the Titans have not asked for an interview. We'll see what happens I guess.
I sound cranky and I'm not sure why. Sorry Mac. :lolol:

Really looking forward to seeing what he can do when he gets the chance.

I know it's almost sacrilege to say anything negative about DL, but I really think his time has come to ride off into the sunset with dignity and honor. Butler deserves a chance to be the DC and you know he has to be growing just a little bit impatient and frustrated with the waiting game. I'd like to see what he can do with this defense.

:this!: However I do believe the Rooneys will give DL one more year. Making it known to DL no matter how bad or well he does 2014 will be his last.Take a bow Dick....you deserve it!!!! Thanks for the memories and all the GREAT Ds you put on the field for us sir.

Father time has come. I could see Coach LeBeau staying one more season. Not that I would object to him leaving this season.

That being said, developing players to get on the field sooner is the key now due to 4 year contracts being signed coming out.

With the scheme being so complicated, time to pull back the reigns, fresh ideas.

That's the reason this Defense has gotten old. Hanging on to vets who know the scheme has caught up.

Can Coach LeBeau adjust? Can Butler take this D to a new level?

Only time will tell. Work needs to be done on this Defense. Changes need to be made.

changes like the new, ILB,OLB,CB,NT,DE, and safety that played this year?

or the losses of guys like aaron smith, keisel for a big part of the season, casey Hampton, larry foote, james farrier, lamar Woodley again, james Harrison, keenan lewis, troy last year, ike taylor last year, and it's not his fault these guys have aged that are still here, he's done quite a good job.

he's also not the one that lost players and signed some others to these crazy contracts that have us strapped. you don't replace these types of players on a whim.

the position coaches bring the players along. Colbert and MT give him the players to work with and take them away too.

it's got nothing to do with bringing guys along and getting them on the field soon. you just don't take those types of players off the field to give any type of significant play time to others.

every team would love to have a casey Hampton, with another casey Hampton to step in at a moments notice, but it just doesn't work that way when you have a bunch of mid rd. draft picks to replace them with because that's all we can afford. you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

The seahawks signed a bunch of no name players for their hybrid defense, and have become a dominating number 1 ranked defense, good innovative coaches with a plan can take a player and utilize him at a high level, like Pete Carrol said (quote) Pete Carroll about his defense, "Our defense is a 4-3 scheme with 3-4 personnel. It's just utilizing the special talents of our guys."

he wasn't afraid to use high draft picks on guys either. we haven't had that type of luxury. he doesn't pick his players as a head coach does. flavor of the month didn't happen overnight with the seahawks. now every DC should have the seahawks players in waiting I guess. how many times have they been the top defense the last 10 years? how much money do they have tied up in players and when will the cap hit them like it has here? big difference diamond.

Carrol hasn't been there for 10 years, but his defense has been pretty good over the last 3 years: They have several bargain players starting which has helped their cap out a lot, 2014 will be a different story with some of these bargain contracts like Wilson, Earl Thomas and Sherman looking for their big payday, but this year they have had some bargains as this article explains: Best Bargains: There are quite a few bargains on the Seahawks, but the biggest is clearly quarterback Russell Wilson, who will earn $526,217 in base salary in 2013. In terms of cash, Wilson's base salary has him ranked 85th out of 120 active quarterback contracts in the NFL. Among likely starting quarterbacks in the NFL this season, only Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles ($520,000) is set to earn less cash on the field than Wilson. Wilson has plenty of company. Wide receiver Golden Tate caught 45 passes for 688 yards with seven touchdowns and was 18th among NFL wide receivers in Football Outsiders' receiving DYAR (Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement) last season. With Percy Harvin undergoing hip surgery, Tate should have a major role in the Seahawks' offense this season, which will have the 2010 second-round pick out of Notre Dame earning the league minimum base salary of $630,000. All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman is also a steal with a $555,000 base salary and $600,606 cap charge in 2013. There are 110 cornerbacks in the NFL with base salaries larger than Sherman's, including two who will earn more per week than Sherman will make all season. One of those is Darrelle Revis, Sherman's social media sparring partner who'll take home $764,706 per week during the 2013 season. Staying in secondary, Earl Thomas is one of best safeties in the NFL and will earn a modest $2.15 million in base salary and workout bonuses with a $2.921 million cap number. Both numbers rank outside the Top 15 among current safety contracts.

The Seahawks and 49ers have the luxury of signing a bunch of D guys since they don't have huge QB salaries eating up tons of cap room. That is about to change for both of them, especially San Fran.

there is no doubt pete carrol has built a team and went against all the so called big names to get good football players and it's worked. trouble is when we were in the playoffs and winning SB's our players cost more. we have extended and held onto some past their time, signed others that we shouldn't have and have a big money franchise qb to pay. of course we have a few of those low money good players but not near enough. kelvin beachum, will be, I'm guessing here, one of if not the lowest paid LT in the league next year. cortez isn't overly paid. al woods. trouble is contracts will be coming due and that's when the money goes up and it will for the seabirds too at some point. a vicious cycle, where teams used to be able to keep guys like lewis and worilds, now may not be possible. such is the new NFL. I hate it too. there will be no more decade long dynasties.
