Everything I have seen has the steelers listed as second in the Afcn and the Ravens third. How are we picking before them? Not that I'm complaining since I think we are looking for similar things in the draft.

That still doesn't explain how we are second in the division meaning we had a better record then them but are picking before them.

For the draft, teams are ordered as follows ...

    1. Team record
    2. Strength of schedule (in reverse order).

Meaning that when you have 2 or more teams that finish the season with the same record, the one who played the weakest schedule drafts first. The team with the 2nd weakest schedule drafts 2nd ...

So are we playing the 2nd or 3rd place teams in AFC East and West next year?

From the standings it should be the second but I hope it's the third.

Check that I would rather the chiefs and jets as the second rather then the Dolphins and chargers as the third.

Didn't you explain this in another post? The order of draft is determined by 1. strength of schedule.

I.m the last one to be commenting on this stuff. I have not looked or cared about orders since 1999. But unless someone else explains exactly what you are asking I will copy what I saw someone else give as the reason. Meanwhile SF has moved one step closer to 6.

Yes he did! But that was for the draft order. There were 6 teams with 8-8 record. Only the Bears pick ahead of the Steelers. Those 6 are listed in the final League standings as Bal, Chi,'
Dal, Mia, NYJ, and Pit in that order. Another question might be why are the Bears listed as picking ahead of TS. I have seen 3 different strengths of schedules for TS. Another table has the Bears with a better sos. It is confusing. But 15 is not bad if it official.

Anyway what is funny about this is up until a week ago when I was looking at the Miami thread I had no idea whatsoever how the draft order was selected. Unbelievabe that it is so totally different than seperating teams for the PO's. And also unbelievable that is so simple and makes sense too.

btw: TS ended up 4-2 to Bal 3-3 in the div. So then the tie breaker 3 about the common games crap was out. During wks 15 16 that was a big thing trying to figure out how TS would get in. They also had that one on the Ravens.

Come to think about it. Maybe Contract explained that one too.

The draft order for the 20 non PO teams seems to be set. All the mocks have TS at 15.

The following tables are the strengths of schedules for the years 2013 and 2014. Not sure but I think the 2013 sos is used for this draft.
