It was settled out of court. IRRC, the NFL told him to settle, he said he wouldn't, but ultimately did a year later. I remember it was settled for quite a bit less than she was seeking.

I heard she went to work as a tv technician since that is why she was in Ben's room to start with. LOL.

The terms of the settlement were actually disclosed?

No, and that's probably not accurate. I shouldn't have said it. I don't think that was an actual news report. Just a source.

I wouldn't have given her jack. It's amazing to me that you can be totally innocent in a matter and pay someone to just go away. Isn't paying sort of an admission of guilt or is it more about just getting these leeches off of you? I can tell you of an experience I had about having to settle and we were basically made to.

She went on to star in movies like "Wedding Crashers," "Interns," and "Marley and Me." Not sure why she goes by "Owen" for her stage name...

LOL! NO ONE! You would think that though! HA! No what actually happened is that we have a Disney timeshare and were there on Ben's first Disney vacation when he was 9 months old. We were eating breakfast in the castle and had a really early reservation. When we sit down the server poured coffee for everyone but me and then asked me if I wanted some and I said that I did but didn't have a cup. He reached across the table to get me one and in the process set his coffee pot down in front of Ben and it got knocked over and went all over his bare legs. He got 2nd degree burns and Disney had to take him to the hospital in an ambulance and they paid all the bills. Then when we got home they had a case manager calling constantly to make sure we weren't going to sue and we assured them we weren't and that we didn't even believe in suing. They kept saying they wanted to do something to make it up to us and my wife asked if they would make us the "family of the day" on our next trip but they said they HAD to settle for money. They said they would give us $2,500 and we could sign something saying that was the end of it. So we accepted and used that money on our next trip a few months later. Someone told me we were crazy for not trying to get more money but I'm just not that kind of guy and I really love them and accidents happen. I actually went back to the castle that day after we got back from the hospital to tell them I didn't want the guy to lose his job and they wouldn't say one way or the other what happened to him. I was highly irritated but after I calmed down I felt some sympathy for him. I still do to this day.

I was involved in a lawsuit that was settled as of yesterday. It was in relation to my job. It's not about right and wrong, it's about minimizing financial loss.

Did you get to keep your job though? I'm not sure if it's like this in Canada but down here there is a whole industry of sue happy people. They are called ambulance chasers. I really think the lawsuit industry is what is pushing these rule changes in the NFL more than anything honestly.

It is tough living in enemy territory ... After all this time people around me just assume he definitely was guilty both times. That is just something you got to live with I guess?

Yes, I kept my job. Settlements aren't really about right or wrong though. Even if someone wins in court, they may have spent tens of thousands in lawyers fees. Sometimes a defendant can be awarded legal costs, but there's no guarantee of that. So usually it makes sense to settle outside of court.

While it's not as bad up here, it's still pretty sue happy. You're right though, the lawsuits have changed the game. All pro sports leagues are worried about lawsuits.

I thought I'd read at the time that Ben paid up some money, but I could be wrong.

I think Ben's inclination was to fight the suit, but once the Millidgeville incident happened, his chances of winning worsened. So rather than risk, a high visibility, well publicized civil case, which he could lose big time; he settled out of court.

The NFL told Ben to settle the case.

"Though the NFL has asked Roethlisberger to settle the case, stemming from from a rape accusation at a Lake Tahoe celebrity golf event in July 2008, Roethlisberger has steadfastly refused because he doesn't believe he did anything wrong."

The settlement was a couple years after the Milledgville incident.

Didn't the first skank get caught telling and emailing people she wanted to have Ben's baby so she and the baby would be set for life?
I'm with Ben, I would have taken her to court and countersued her and took everything she had.
Also, why is this brought up again? Ben had a good year so we have to remind him not to screw skanks?
