No way Greene makes it but I really would like for him too. I don't think Jerome makes it this year either. I want Andre Reid to go to the Hall but I don't think he gets in this year.

This will be the 3rd year that I've waited to make vacation plans. I really want to go back to Canton to see Bettis get in.

I want him there too. I hope he makes it but I just doubt that he does. For some reason they don't seem to want to put him in there.

I couldn't believe that they mentione Terrell Davis in the same breath as the Bus. TD was good but didn't play nearly long enough!

I also think Jerome SHOULD be in (should have been last year, or on his 1st ballot), but it seems that voters look at other criteria we don't actually see.
Do you think there will be any debate when Ben's elegibility starts?

By the way, a couple of days ago, there was the MLB HOF voting, and Jack Morris didn't make it (I know not everyone here is a baseball fan, but he was an absolute amazing pitcher who won 3 World Series.. but had never led the league in major categories or awards).

Just wanted to point out an article that explains some criteria that voters are taking into account now, and how it affects HOF voting among baseball:
    http://www.forbes.com/sites/mikeoza...t-vote-for-jack-morris-live-in-fantasy-world/

His initial statement is this one:
"Hall Of Fame Voters Who Omitted Jack Morris Live In Fantasy World. Once upon a time, the object of playing baseball–or, more precisely, of pitching–was to win the game. And more: win the World Series. Now it’s about fantasy baseball statistics."

Do you think that's starting to happen to PFHOF voters?

I mean, I don't have an idea of what was Betis' YPC lifetime average, but let's say it was close to 4. And Terrel Davis had a 4.5...
That understates the quality yards Jerome had, and his impact on close games (3rd & inches, 4th and goal from the 1), and overstates long runs. It also diminishes the long career he had and the impact on his team & teammates.

    My 5:

Bettis, Haley, Strahan, Jones, and probably DeBartolo

I can't make a case for any of the others getting in over those. I'd like to see Greene get in, but I think the odds are against him.

I read that as the Hall of Fame for Middle Linebackers - I was thinking, "that's a bit too specific, isn't it?"

I agree that Fantasy has changed the appreciation of the game, but perhaps this is only really an extension of what went before. The game has always been about the stats to an extent - at least from the early 80s, I would argue. Fantasy football has just hyper-intensified that.

Bettis should definitely be in. Think about who he had as a QB for most of his career. Teams KNEW the Steelers were going to run and they STILL couldn't stop him. He probably should have been in before now. Unfortunately because Martin and Faulk retired the same year, the voters for whatever reason didn't feel like voting in multiple RB's in a given year. Bettis was arguably the best big back to ever play the game. His career demands inclusion into the hall.

It will definitely be tougher sledding for Greene to get in.

Really hoping Bettis makes it in this time around. The guy deserves to be in the HOF, period.

Bettis and Greene both deserve to be in. It would be a travesty if Charles Haley doesn't get in this time. 5 rings, and was a monster who needed to be accounted for on every snap. Strahan can wait.

Agree on Haley. I didn't pay attention to Greene after he left Pittsburgh so, I can't say if he's deserving or not. I don't understand how DeBartolo, who was forced to give up control of the team as I recall,is in contention. Should be a seperate category for owners and coaches.

I think Greene should get in. double-digit sacks for 10 years! If Sapp and Howie Long can get in, Greene should of been there.

What team will Greene go in under? I wouldn't say that he will be inducted as a Steeler but it is still cool that he was really successful while he was here. He is definitely one of the more colorful people we've ever had.

I didn't think NFL players went in under a team.

Hey I actually went and looked and they don't. All the teams that they play for are listed but they don't go in as a certain player. That must just be a fan thing by claiming they "have" such and such hall of famers.

I started to look it up but got sidetracked. Damn job!

I thought I remembered seeing something on ESPN about players not being tied to a team when they were enshrined. Maybe the ones that are "unofficially" tied to a team played their entire career with them?
