Will the fate of Suggs affect the market for Worlds?

Ozzie Newsome said yesterday in the Ravens state of the team post season news conference that nothing is set in stone concerning Suggs. The Ravens are up against the cap and his hit for the coming season is 12.1 million. So the possibility of cutting ties with him is there. Will this cause a negative or positive impact on the Worilds contract negotiations.?

Woodley might be there with suggs on the market. it could bode well for some draft picks to fall. it just depends on what worilds agent thinks he can get. Woodley and suggs may have to settle for less if they go on the market. unless some owner throws the sky at any of these guys, which could happen, I don't think worilds has the track record as some others do.

I would think Worilds and Suggs for the most part will be unrelated. Suggs is a well proven player at the end of his career. Worilds is a relatively unproven commodity in his prime. A team looking for one isn't interested in the other.

I would eat my foot if Woodley is cut before June 1st and be on the market before the draft...

His Cap hit would cost 14 + before june 1st...won't make any sense for the steelers to cut him before then

We can cut him anytime and designate him a June 1st cut we just don't get the money until then.

Yes...it makes sense from that perspective. I think some 4/3 teams might look at him for the DE position.

That is why I asked the question. Teams like the Ravens who are cash strapped may look at Worilds as a cheap option to keeping Suggs. While teams looking at OLB's may look at established vets and look at price as not being an obstacle.

Still not sure about dumping Woodley for Worlids ... Worlids only had a couple good games ... Woodley should be in his prime and is proven.

Ravens would LOVE to have Woodley on their team....

The last two season Worilds has has played really well from the right side I think with age and everything included Worilds is the smarter move in the long run

Thats the thing they said they would be active in the FA market but they would wait to see what players other teams cut that they can sign for lower cap hits. I am not sold on Worilds at all since he has shown flashes but only from Woodley's side so I am not in favor of signing him to a large deal based on his limited skill set. The reason I posed the question was in part because this might have an impact on what free agent LB's are going for. Lots of teams that are going to be in flux with coaching changes and could be plenty of house cleaning in some of these organizations.

Man, what does Worilds have to do to get respect. He's not going to get a Woodley type contract from us, he'll be gone if he wants that so I wouldn't worry about that. And who cares if it's only from Woodleys side? Keep him there, why wouldn't you play him to his strengths. He did well in his spot duties before becoming a starter, then struggled a bit from the right side and then took off when moved to the left.

Woodley can't stay on the field and his play has fallen off significantly since his big contract. So why is that so much more attractive?

I give respect BF I just would hate to see another large contract for someone who excels in just one aspect. It forces your hand if you have guys that are position specific. If Worilds get hurt and Woodley is gone then what? Next man up I'd a LOLB and doesn't play well from the right then you have weakened both sides of your line. I'd like to see Worilds resigned at a reasonable rate and continue to work both sides. I'd like to see what Jarvis has from Woodley side as well.

I'd like to see us keep drafting. I think JJ he looked pretty good when they used him from the ilb spot this year. I too think he can play either side, but not everybody can play that right side as it should be.

carter is an enigma. he's close but still far away. he's the only real depth guy though.

we do have the new addition( wasterman or something) he has had a few starts in the league and has been a solid backup for teams, from what I've read on him.

a lot depends on the money this year. carter would save near 700,000 if cut. 6 something. what the new guy cost to keep may be about the same. are they enough depth? cutting either without worilds really wouldn't be an option if we are going to cut Woodley too. this is going to be an interesting dilemma for the steelers.

I'm still on the JJ wagon. I have said all along all he needs to do is beef up and he should be fine. I think this next camp will be very telling for him. If he comes in with some muscle he will be a player!

for all 6 games a year he would play...:lolol:

but i agree...probably about 31 other teams would love to have him...maybe not at 14 mil a year...

I wonder if another player will throw Woodley under the bus this year about not being in shape. We are definitely stuck in between a rock and a hard place with the "Woodley and Worilds" situation. I can't wait for it to shake out.

Pretty sure Woodley was in good shape this year.
