I just read an article, that if I understood correctly, he will be extended now for cap relief.

Care to chime in TTF? Would that be true?

First, Rooney isn't going to give anything on the matters of contract negotiations. His answers, like any good owner, are pretty bland. I'm surprised that he said he'd be here long term honestly.

Right, that's what I've been saying for a while now. Back to those threads earlier in the season when people wanted to trade him I was saying he was likely going to be extended this offseason, because the team needs the cap relief. It might not happen, but I would be pretty surprised if it didn't. It could likely shave $4-5Mil off of his 2014 cap hit, depending on the contract details.

Thats what I thought, thanks :hello:

I'd be really surprised then too, they definitely need the cap space.

with omar possibly leaving, we will need a new geek with a sharp pencil.

I just wonder if anything has to do with Woodley being cut loose? wouldn't bens cap hit go up next year if he's extended this year? that's when woodleys higher portion of a june 1 cut would come. would they hold off until next year to offset that cost possibly?

Maybe it's a good idea and Ben has the pressure to have a good year in 2014, then they extend his contract before the 2015 season

He is a Elite QB and will be a future HOF qb...he has been in the league for 10 years...he is not Joe flacco or any other mediocre qb that is fighting for a contract... there is always pressure to win...there will be no pressure on him to get paid like he deserves to be
