That even proves his point more. Troy had a few splash plays but we know this will probably be his last year, Clark is done and Allen was a suitable stop gap that shouldn't be hard to upgrade. The Safety position needs a serious overall.

Actually proves my point. Tackling is the most important thing, something Ike does well.

He never had a brain to play corner at a top level, if they need a safety then draft one, don't experiment with this idiot at safety...

as far as the bone crushing hits clark does, of course ike won't be that same type. the league also frowns on that style now if you haven't noticed. ike can tackle. ike will be facing the action more and if I had to guess , would see the ball coming better to make picks. ike would be more in the mold of a true FS. clark played a lot more of a SS type game.

    another thing to consider.

someone has to teach the young players we bring in how to play some coverage's without troy. we don't have a, how do I want to put this, true nfl traditional style of safeties with the way we use troy. it's something most new players haven't seen before. with youth coming in, we need his wisdom of this defense for at least 1 more year. it will help the new CB and help us at safety. troy don't make too many full seasons and clark won't be here to cover up. I think ike can do well squared up on the ball, where he can see it coming.

If Clark was more of a SS and Troy was definitely anything but a FS more of a SS/LB hybrid then that's the way we choose to use "our" safeties. So now all of a sudden we are going to take a guy who has never played the position and revamp our secondary to accommodate him. I don't think he can do the things Clark does ,when Clark was playing well. Like I said "maybe" as a true FS he could help but it's not how we play our defense. I'm not saying we can't use his experience for another year,I actually like Ike. If he truly wants to help the team then take the paycut and stay at CB.

If he wants to stay here, he's going to have to take a pay cut regardless what position he ends up at. We'll have to wait and see where he would help us the most.

that's what I'm getting at. life after troy. there are no troys in the draft, nor is "the shark" a troy, so we are going to have to teach our young guys a more traditional safety defense, because that's what we will be running in two years. everyone will be gone and they need next year with some vet leadership. don't think because they move ike to safety that if we have an injury they wouldn't put him right back there.
