ive been all over today tv,internet, face to face so many saying we got what we deserved blah blah blah......but to my surprise what i keep hearing from steeler fans is that hey we lost too many games and that definitely factors in but is not exactly truth.it seems to me that we were in contention even after losing said games.this team showed mad character for fighting the way they did starting 0-4 didnt tank and stayed relevant and alive till the last minute playing some pretty good football in the process i dont know the future but i do feel that if things had went down a different way yesterday the steelers would have shocked the world.but for some not most dont think we coulda beat anybody but the bengals. now i say not the beginning of season team but this more confident healthy team................. we got hosed indirectly we didnt enough games either way we got postseason football and our STEELERS aint there.

I`d have loved to see what we could do... I think we have a CHANCE to beat any team, any time, anywhere, but so do the rest of `em...
If we wanted to get there... We Had plenty of chances to do it... No remorse, no regrets, no repent...
    Get better next year!!!
    GO STEELERS!!!

Fact is we were 8-8 and guess what in 2013 we did enough to make the playoffs...I also tired if hear well they lost to minnesota and oakland blah blah ....

Did the week 4 loss to minnesota blow the calls in the chiefs game last night?

Fact: The steelers did enough to make the playoffs
Fact: The Refs did not do theor job

Fact... If we had WON one more game this year, 9-7, we wouldn`t be having this debate...
You really think we aren`t a better team than half the teams we lost to?
Then why didn`t we win one of those games?!?
The ref`s didn`t screw us out of all of those 8 losses...
    Sorry. Sad But true...
    GO STEELERS!!!:herewego::beard::steelflag:

Fact: The steelers did enough to make the playoffs.

    ^No they did not.^

8-8 is not worthy of being a playoff team. I would call them average at best.
They started out horribly and got better late in the season. Should have taken things seriously and we wouldn't be here today.

I think they should not have a 6 seed for the AFC this year. San Diego had to go to OT and have a blown call and a bad kick go their way against second stringers to make it in the playoffs. Baltimore and Miami laid eggs when it was all on the line. And the Steelers.... they lost back-to-back to Baltimore and Miami when they knew they were fighting with them for that last spot.

What we are saying is we win one more and it doesn't matter what SD does. Their game would have meant nothing

Do we know if that's true? If we beat Minn or Chi, we'd still be tied with SD with a 9-7 record and 6-6 in the conference. Tie breaker would then go to strength of win/schedule. Not sure where we stand there. Of course, if that win was vs an AFC team, then yes, we'd be in.

I think there's a very good chance we beat Cinci, but I just don't see us capable of beating Denver or NE in the playoffs. Our defence has been pretty terrible this year, and Brady showed exactly what he can do to us. I think it would be even worse against Manning. That's not to say I wouldn't have loved a playoff game, but I don't think we would have shocked the world. I think we may have won against Cinci but lost badly to NE or Denver

yes i'm angry about the refs. and about the chiefs inability to win against actual decent teams, but the truth is that if you're in a position where you need a ton of outside help to make the playoffs, then you did not do enough...... the best teams control their own destiny, and hopefully that will be us again next season

You might be right, I forgot that San Diego winning, gave them a 9-7 record, I was thinking that tied them with us(and a bunch of others, at 8-8)...
Now that you mention it, I think you`re right...
Doesn`t make me feel any bettr about the 0-4 start, tho...
    Gosh Darnit!!!:sigh::sick::doh::blackeye::mad:....

What is it with some of you people and the "we don't deserve to be in the playoffs" talk? Fact is a teams record is irrelevant , only thing that matters is that you finish as one of the top six seeds in your conference.
    That's it, fact.

Arizona's game ended up meaning nothing on Sunday, but if they had won, they would have been 11 - 5 and still not gotten in. Ended up being 10 - 6 which is pretty darn good and better than GB 8-7-1. Bottom line, with the WC, you're almost always going to have to rely on others, as it comes down to record and tie-breakers, often with teams you don't get to play.

Yes, but when your a good team, you overcome poor refereeing. You have to beat your opponents and overcome the ref's poor decision. You do that buy winning more games and not put yourself in those situations.

The simple fact of the matter is that we had a shot to get into the playoffs and in the last game of the season the team we needed to win got hosed..

That's not how they see it here in San Diego. They see it as divine intervention and payback for all the bad calls that didn't go the Chargers way.
In other words, exactly how we Steelers fans would be reacting if we had been the recipient of such an NFL gift. This years team is/was not a playoff team.

    I think that oversimplifies things.

Do we deserve to be in the playoffs based on what we did on our own? No, I think that is obvious. We needed 3 teams to lose in the final week to still have a shot.

Do we belong there based on circumstances out of our control? Yes. We finished 8-8, but the reality is San Diego should have also finished 8-8. Since they didn't due to things out of our control, we aren't playing this week, but we probably should be. THAT is the reality. Did it happen? No, but it is what SHOULD have happened.

Everyone likes to say, but you should have been better in weeks 1-4 if you wanted to make the playoffs, forgets and overlooks that San Diego was 1-4 in a 5 week stretch as well during the season.

Watching the KC game, you can see 2 things which happened and may impact things out of our control.

    1. The penalty on the FG may have changed the outcome.
    2. The fake punt would have changed things. When watching that replay they were 3 options of outcomes:

    a. They held him short of a first down.....this option gives KC the ball again in FG range needing only that to win again.
    b. They go the first down....the solution they went with.
    c. That there was a fumble which was returned for a TD and KC wins.

In 2 of those scenarios, we make the playoffs....without review or much discussion, SD was awarded the first down which on tape does not appear to be the case.

We don't DESERVE to be in the playoffs, but we SHOULD be in the playoffs.
