I care not about who we get rid of this offseason or who we bring in.

My one request to the Steelers coaches is that they have the team prepared to play week 1. This means making all evaluating decisions before or during training camp and have the starters and backups prepared enough to go into the game and know what they are doing.

It took eight weeks this year before the Steelers figured out how to utilize their personnel and create effective game plans.

Make this one small change next year and I feel we are back in the playoffs.

Also, Bell is the real deal.

That's bs. We started with season ending injuries to mainstays of the offense and defense. People love to ***** about Foote, but he was an integral part of the defense and losing him hurt us big time. Williams played well for the most part, but he was still a rookie and it showed. Losing Pouncey five minutes into the season was a huge loss. Yes, Velasco played well, but it also limited what we could do offensively for a while.

Look at how many injuries the Patriots sustained early in the season. The difference is that the replacements and team were better prepared, and that translated into playoffs for them. Us? 8-8 and no playoffs.

Losing Pouncey literally was not massive to the Steelers. Replacing Adams with Beachum WAS massive, and that should have been done before the season began.

What is it with you people and the Patriots? I swear to god every time there's a discussion about the Steelers it's but but but the Patriots.

Before you go heaping mountains of praise on Beachum and proclaiming him some great LT you might want to look at what we did with the play calling to hide his deficiencies. Losing Pouncey was a huge blow. Do you really think they practiced a zone blocking scheme throughout the offseason and then abandoned it by choice? No, they had to adapt to the injuries we sustained and to the capabilities of replacements.

I recall an article written a few days after Velasco was signed, telling of how he was helping the other starters with zone-blocking technique since he was used to it in Tennessee. To me, that suggests that even with Pouncey, they still didn't know what they were doing with the zone-blocking scheme. Case in point, the play Pouncey was hurt, they were running a zone-blocking scheme and DeCastro completely flubbed his assignment, as well as Pouncey's leg. They weren't prepared for it, which is the premise of my request for next year.

Starting 0-4 with Ben Roethlisberger as you quarterback is inexcusable! Losing to the Vikings and Titans two of the first four weeks is inexcusable!! Every team has to deal with injuries. Coming out flat, uninspired and seemingly unprepared for the game is on the coaching staff and in particular, the HEAD COACH! Even Kiesel made reference to the fact the Steelers always seemed to start slow in every game and that they had to improve on that if they were to be competitive. Thankfully, we seemed to be putting a nice run together at the end of the season but it was too little too late.

My only wish is to see Pimply Dan make it back for 2014. I think his absence is really making a difference on this time. I don't care that he is a stamp licking under achieving troll . I love that guy.. There I said.. Just professed my man love for Pimp Dylan lol

My wish is not lose to the bottom feeders of the league, and then they won't need help to make the playoffs.

My wish is for MT to attend a weekend seminar on clock management.

Perhaps sit the man down in front of an Xbox and have him play 25 games of madden and maybe he'll stop calling a timeout to think things over every 3rd quarter.

    One wish?

    Um...19-0.

Being serious for a moment, I'd like to see us either play like we have talent, or play like we don't so the guys make up for it with extra effort. I'm not quite sure which I prefer.

They've been consistently 10+ wins ever since 2003. They've won 14+ games FOUR TIMES since then; the Steelers have won 14+ games twice ever (1978, 2004). They've gone to four Super Bowls, winning two (not even counting the game against St. Louis). They probably would have had a 19-0 season if the Giants' O-line had gotten flagged for holding on the David Tyree play, though holding good defensive players seems to pretty consistently not happen, regardless of the team for which they play; but in any event, they won every game during the 2007 regular season, typically blowing out bad teams like Tomlin's teams so rarely do.

I think we'd be pretty happy if we went on a 10-year run like New England has. The only better runs (in the Super Bowl era) are us in the 70s and San Francisco in the 80s.

By the way, New England has a bye this year and could win another AFC Championship or even Lombardi trophy.

(And I really hate the Patriots.)

    Amen.

What I'd wish for next year is for the team to continue to develop the identity it found towards the end of the season. This was always going to be the place, what with the number of retirements in the last few seasons, that the team would have to reforge what it was going to be. I think that the back end of the season showed us what it could be; and I hope our drafting, training and game strategies are all built around perfecting that next season.
