Just another guy's opinion that the team didn't agree with.

WR Antonio Brown wins Steelers MVP (players vote). Brown's had a special year, but this year award should be re-named MVP Not Named Big Ben.

I can understand the argument for him but it doesn't matter what any non-team members think.

Last, A very telling snipit from the article that I not only think applies to the steelers team mvp, but also league mvp...ill let the message board folks debate this one...have at it boys and gals

he most consistent thing I’ve seen while fans debate back and forth about Brown vs. Roethlisberger is that Brown had a record breaking season and had the stats to back up being the MVP. That’s all well and good, but MVP stands for Most Valuable Player. When considering who is the MVP, I’ve always felt that you had to ask yourself who would the team miss the most if they were not part of this roster? Who is the player with the biggest impact on their team week in and week out? What would the win/loss column look like if you took that player away? That’s your most valued player.

For those that still think Brown is the outright MVP, I think you should look at other teams for some similar context. AB is the #1 receiver and has certainly proven that he is worth to this team way more than Mike Wallace could ever dream of. But he needs a talented gun slinger to feed him the ball. If you look at teams like the Packers and Texans, they have similar talent at the wide receiver position. But when QB’s such as Matt Flynn and Matt Schaub are under center, the production falls off. You think Jordy Nelson is team MVP over Aaron Rodgers? It was clear that Rodgers was the heart and soul of the Packers due to their huge drop off in points and wins when he became injured this season. Sure Flynn helped them climb back to a position to win the NFC North, but he’s no Rodgers. And, Flynn would never get team MVP. That honor is for a guy like Rodgers who gives that team the best chance to win every single week…. just like Roethlisberger does for the Steelers.

So using the logic of who would the team miss if they weren't on the roster, would we consider Pouncey? We went 0-4 without him and are fighting for our playoff lives without him. Would Green Bay consider Rodgers? They are fighting for their playoff lives tomorrow. How about Bell for us? He has 16 carries in game 4 after missing the first 3 games.

The only reason I thin AB is outright MVP - the team said he was and who are we to question them? They know them better than anyone.

I think it could have gone to Ben and we would be having the same discussion about AB. The team has spoken and it dimply doesn't matter what anyone else says.

By the way, who cares about being MVP of a team that is 7 -8? What does that mean? You were the least mediocre?

By that guys logic, any good QB would always be the MVP, it's definitely the most important position to a teams success.

Having said that, I'd still vote Ben MVP this year.

I believe we've had co-MVP's before? Trying to remember when though.

Seriously? Just because a team has a bad record doesn't mean there isn't a shining start on the team and it doesn't mean that they were mediocre.

This. A goalie in the NHL and a QB in the NFL are almost always the most valuable player to their team. You can't take it so literal and instead just have to pick the player who had the better year. For me it's Brown because he was far more consistent. Ben struggled badly at times this year so he comes in second in my eyes.
