While not a tall or overly thick framed receiver, the buzz on him was that he is really strong and will fight for the ball in traffic as well as decent speed. He was damn good with the Beavers and was being labeled a mini Boldin.

lets hope it pans out that way.

I'm sorry but I don't think this offense needs that type of receiver.

We need a stretch the field type. AB can do that

We need a possession guy AB can do that.

We need something that complements. I would like a Calvin Johnson framed guy but it is far from needed. What we need is a TE that can stretch the field in the middle to move the middle LB and safety. That's why I believe they went after Paulson.

It won't happen but we need that guy out of a base formation that is a dual threat and lines up with his hand on the ground.

We need help inside on our passing offense.

Wheaton is short. Why did we draft another short receiver? Are we trying to break a record for the shortest receivers?

This of course talking about a team that has put up 30 points a game over the past 8, I believe.

So? He's an inch taller then AB, height isn't hurting AB's game.

Good point, but I am impressed with Bell averaging 8.9 yards a catch, he could probably play wide out with his size, but he's too valuable as a dual threat...........

I'd take a good TE as an alternative to a good WR if he fits the criteria that I laid out. He does have to be able to be a weapon in the red zone and catch the ball in traffic. I have DVR'ed a bunch of college games this year, and am DVRing most of the bowl games. I'll have 2 or 3 UNC games on my DVR, and will be taking a really close look at Ebron, who I think fits exactly what you've said that you want. I watched him against Miami, and he was impressive as a receiver. Very impressive. Under that scenario, we would be starting 2 TEs and T WRs. Works for me with the right guys.

AB is having an awesome year. No argument there. Just want some weapons in the redzone that are bigger and taller than the DB's.

I see what you're saying, though I do wonder if, however much Ben has said he wants a big receiver, a lot of our red zone success has been (like most things) about broken down plays and agile receivers getting open in the EZ. Maybe we do much better by adding a bigger guy into the fold? Who knows. Well, if we had Moye out there a bit more then perhaps we would know, or at least had Spaeth healthy for longer this season.

I think they will grab a TE, not sure they should draft a WR unless they feel Moye and Justin Brown are worthless. I agree with Aerosteel though, I would like a big target on the field too, I was just pointing out that smaller speedy guys can do a lot of damage too.

The same crap people were saying about Heyward and now he's the Steelers best d-lineman. Give the guy a break Wheaton had 3 better receivers ahead of him on the depth chart, and the injury set him back he will be just fine in 2014 with Sanders gone and possibly Cotchery.

AB has the speed to stretch the field for sure... Doesn't have the height or fight to bring down a heavily contested pass though IMO. Wheaton will be the same, and Sanders has already displayed being the same. Unless it's broken coverage, these guys can't bail out Ben on a deep shot very much.

A speedy tight end, or a bigger receiver does these things.

even with Wallace the burner, many deep contested passes Hit the turf because he refuses to get after the ball.

We have speed, we don't have guts or talent flying down the sideline

The difference between Jarvis Jones and some of the other rookies is that Jones got a lot of playing time and hasn't produced. I'm not calling Jones a bust but he was given a opportunity and didn't take advantage of it.

Flashback to pre-draft. I was happy that we got Jones, but I had my strong doubts. I think he'll improve, but I'm having trouble seeing him develop into a player who impacts like someone in his draft position needs to impact.

Not to mention AB, Sanders, Wheaton all struggle in the red zone due to their lack of height and thin frame. It amazes me how many here can't see this.

Thats why you don't see them give rookies that much playing time, I'm not surprised at all.
