This is one of the best analyses of our o-line I've read all season, thorn.

cap situation looks bleak but their is always ways to move money around...omar kahn is one of the best in the business...if they sign worilds they can back load it

they will find other ways to cut costs...not resigning pounce is a bad idea...he young and he will be the anchor for the next 7-8 years....

Not nearly as good as Pounce. Do people say that he is? :?

To be fair though, Wallace has been pretty serviceable for having only started in what, his third NFL game? He actually did pretty well in the run game on Sunday. It's hard to know what his exact assignment is (it frequently is when grading linemen), but in a tight zone blast call (which that appears to be without watching the play on film), his job is to double block with Foster, and release to block the next biggest threat. He went down on that play, which isn't what you want to see, but it happens. It happens to even the best centers, too. Pouncey included. In Wallace's case, it's hard to say whether it was due to technique, or assignment confusion.

Correct nobody has said he is better than pounce, but the fact people are calling to replace him with wallace or velasco is just wrong...wallace is a mauler agreed...he just is not as good getting to the second level... and someone said that we should replace pounce with a center that is not as good because of the rest of the line is not good is insane...you upgrade not downgrade

Gotcha, and I agree. I don't believe the direction this organization wants the OL to go is bigger and slower. At least on the interior, I don't believe they're looking for over-sized road graders.

I'm not in the move Pouncey to G camp either, though I understand the sentiment.

agreed...i dont think they should move him either....the fact that they did last year was out of desperation...legursky was having a very hard time at guard...

TTF the other thing I hope they do is bring both wallace and velasco back to compete in camp for pounceys back up spot...be nice to have some legit backups heading into a season....

although who knows is velasco and wallace have done enough to get interest from other teams....

prior to this year he has only missed 3 total regular season games...this last injury was a freak injury...

The kid has been first or second team all-pro every year he has been in the league----

sounds legit cut a 1st or 2nd team all-pro 25 yr old center and keep the journeyman practice squad payer who has a sample size of 3 games

True. But he hasn't completed a full season yet when you consider playoffs. Even in his first year when he played all 16 regular season games he missed the Super Bowl because of injury. That means he has been injured every year he has played. That usually doesn't get better with age. I want to believe that he will be a stud for many years to come but I think we have probably seen his best already.

I could find pictures of pouncey being run over run past and on the ground too. a couple of pictures doesn't tell a full story either. money is an issue with pouncey too. if we let Wallace and velasco walk and we can't re-sign pouncey, we are back to the hartwig or worse years again. I see him walking for sunny fla. after next year. just a feeling.

I wonder which one they try to keep out of Wallace or velasco? which would be the better player? both have done pretty well for the circumstances.

I say Velasco because he seems to have a great work ethic and also a mental grasp of the game. I'm really not sure why the Titans cut him. Maybe we just think he's really good because we're used to seeing such horrid line play??? I mean maybe he's not THAT good but he's just the tallest midget? I wish we could have a perennial pro bowl line for just ONE year and see what could happen.

pounce is a 3 time all-pro (first or second team) he's 24yr old center---you dont give up on that for 2 journeyman

wallace has a 3 game sample size where the last game was his best and the other 2 were below average

velasco was on the street at the beginning of the year....he played solid...but just could not get out in space the way pounce can...

explain to me how money is an issue with pouncey? They will easily be able to sign him to an extension with the contract back loaded if necessary... mangold who i consider the top center in the league has a base salary of 2.5 mil....

Scott wells is the highest base salary at 5.5
