I just re-watched the game tape from yesterday and the guy was straight up dealing...

I really don't care what anyone says, but the guy is up there with manning and brady... he will never be them, but what he does week in and week out in conditions like that amaze me... anyone think brees does that in those conditions?

people bag on him because he's not the "norm", but the guy is a different kind of great...

He is consistently bailing our dog crap D out , hes on his 2nd LT and his 3rd Center.... on pace to throw for 4300 and 30 tds in the northeast

Brees really hasn't been that good this year. I would honestly say Ben has had a better season. Brees has looked downright inept at times this year.

Manning & BRADY are simply a cut above the rest. Without doubt, the best 2 QBs of this era.

I will ride with Ben into battle any day though. He is a gamer and loves to win.

Did you mean Brees or Brady coupled with Manning as best of this era? I'm with both of you (above) on Ben's solid comeback play. Unfortunately - so many just take him for granted and love to gripe about his shortcomings. I embrace his tenure here - we are spoiled - success is fleeting.

if ben played for anyone other than us he would get called elite. I truly believe that. the bias espn shows toward us is very evident. if watch some of the other shows ben gets a lot of praise. I seen on a foxsports show where they listed tom, peyton, and ben as the only elite qbs this year.

Hard to argue he's elite, when he's 6th overall yardage, 7th overall passing TD's, plus 6 lost fumbles. Yes he's helped win 2 rings, but based on this year alone, you can't make Ben "elite". Brees, Manning & Brady are "arguable" the best three pure QB's in the league. But I'd be hard pressed to ignore what Nick Foles is doing too (much smaller work load, but 25TD & 2 INT and just 1 fumble lost is pretty impressive).

Personally, I am glad Ben is on this team, he fits the persona exactly as I want the steelers to be viewed. I could really care less if he is ever labeled "elite" or not, just win some tough games and bring us #7 SB.

Ben is playing in a era with 3 qbs that might go down as top 10 to ever play the game in Manning, Brady and Brees.

Ben is an elite qb, but he not an all time elite qb. Bradshaw probably wasnt an all time elite qb either, but he helped win 4 rings and for me thats all that matters.

Ben has helped to win 2 rings and took them to 3 super bowls so far. if he can get that 3rd ring and 7th overall he will be right there with Bradshaw in my book.

Ben is the guy I want to go into battle with. Clearly the toughest SOB at the position. Peyton and Brady are elite but just don't fit the steelers mentality and mold that fits Ben to a T. Call him elite or not, he was made to be our QB and steeler tough. The other guys may be elite but they are pantywaists and wouldn't last a season here.

Whether you think Ben is elite, franchise or somewhere in between, we'd better sign him to an extension if we have any shot over the next three or four years. We don't need to go into next season with Ben's contract not extended. Can you imagine the distraction that would create?

Big Ben is a superstar. He passed for 168 yards against the best defense in the league, not to mention how tough it is to win at Lambeau coupled with the bad weather. He will be battling Manning for player of the year!

Why would it be a distraction when he's signed for the 2014 & 2015 seasons? I can see it if he was not extended going into the 2015 season.

You are correct. I was thinking next year was a contract year. But we do need to extend sooner rather than later. The drumbeat will get louder the longer we wait.

IMHO elite is a superfluous discussion. The real debate is, will Ben make it into the HOF. I used to think absolutely. But the number of Franchise QBs has increased. By way of comparison, after they won 6 in Feb 09, there were 4 active QBs with a ring, now there are 7 and by Feb there could be 8. Lots of competition.

i think even if he doesnt win another ring hes in. hes probably just hitting his prime and it looks like hes liking this offense. also take into account that hes getting hit less with the oline improving and the fact that hes bought into this quick short pass offense his career will probably last a bit longer. i think he has atleast 5 more solid years left before we start to see a decline. by then he will have broken every Steeler qb record there is and i cant see him not getting in.,

He's the best and he's on our side.

Look at it in reverse, the Steelers are battling a team for a playoff spot down to the wire. We took the lead with only a minute to go, but the team we're battling now has Roethlisberger.

He's only got a minute right? LMAO

hes on pace fro 4300 yds and 30 tds...

people bag on him because hes no what everyone thinks a QB should be..but the guy just gets it done...

Whoops, sorry for the confusion, yes Manning & BRADY have been the two best of this era. Brees is a distant 3rd.

Quite frankly, I think there's a portion of NFL fans that would hate on any QB they had, including Manning or Brady. I was in Foxboro, just after Brady threw a late INT against the Saints with just over a minute to go. The entire upper bowl turned on Brady and called him washed up. After a quick Saints 3 and out, Brady marched down the field in less than 30 seconds for the winning TD.

Steeler fans need to be grateful for what we have. Am I the only one sensing gloomy days ahead when #7 is no longer under center?
