I've got to go with Ben. Strong honorable mention to AB, but Ben's the man.

Garvin would be on my list for MVP, simply because he provided one of the few really punishing big hits that used to be the staple of our defense. He's keeping the spirit of the Steel Curtain alive and well.

(Though is still a shame about Huber's injury)

Have to agree with an earlier post, that is to say they just shouldn't even give out the award. But if they did, then Ben has earned it.

They must not allow to many words to be used when posting in Canonsburg. JK I'm from there, a long time ago. Still have some memories about there, some good some bad. Mostly good.

This is a great question and I'm surprised at who I started considering. I would give the nod to Ben with AB a close second. I would give Bell the rookie of the year. Troy would get my nod for come-back player of the year. Some that I gave consideration to: Allen, surprisingly Gay, Timmons (wouldn't have been a bad choice either). Honorable mention for all the above except rookie would be Heath. I think I love this team too much, this is difficult for me!

Which begs the question. how badly do we need Pouncey? Sure when he is on the field he is a pro bowl center. Problem is he is seldom on the field lol

AB he will probably set the teams receptions record and is the only player pro bowl worthy.

Ben was my 1st thought, but I have to agree with the previous poster, who mentioned that Ben`s excessive turnovers at the beginning of the season, are a big reason, we are in the mess we`re in....
Yes, he has done much better recentley, but he shouldn`t be excused for poor perfomance, at the beginning of the year...
Antonio Brown has been pretty friekin good.(One slight mis-step, notwithstanding).
Troy is definetley comeback player of the year candidate.... Just for playing every game so far.
Yes he`s missed some big plays, but, he`s also made some, that remind us of what he used to do...
Hard to find a true MVP, on a team that has to win it`s last 2 games to get to 8-8,
But I would say Velasco did a GRERAT job, given the situation he came into...
And for all we wanna laugh at "Doctor Cody"... he`s really done a pretty good job as our THIRD starting center this year.
I will give "honorable mention" to Le`Veon Bell...
He has shown why we drafted him. His pass catching ability, abnd blocking pickups, have given him a chance to stay on the field, and his running skills are above average, as well.
(Personally, I would like to see him reduce the reliance on the "spin move", but that`s nit-picking...
The kid has a bright future here, IMHO...
MVP... Don`t know if we really have one... Probably Ben, for being a "leader", and continuing to play hard, and not letting his teammates just "mail it in"...
Same could be said for Keisel, but his foot injury was unfortunate, as well as, Heath, I was surprised he got back on the field as soon as he did, and was pretty productive, considering what he was coming back from, but because of that, he wasn`t quite the "Mr. Reliable" that he has been in the past... Don`t think he has ever dropped as many passes, in a season, or come down with "incompletes".
I do have faith, that he will be back to his old self next year, tho...
    GO STEELERS!

I've seen a couple posts eliminating Ben because of his early turnovers, have you guys already forgotten the atrocious line play the first 4 games? I think that had a little to do with it :hmmm:

I believe it just further proves how valuable Ben is to the team.
I think the Steelers could give the award to both Ben and Brown, think they've done co MVP's in the past.

I`ll agree the line`s play had a lot to do with it...
But I don`t think that`s ALL the reason there was to it...
MAYBE he was trying too hard, taking too many chances...
I dunno, Until he got hurt last season, he was doin pretty damn good at taking care of the ball.
The last few games of last season, and the beginning of this one, he had a pretty excessive turnover rate, compared to the majority of his career...
I don`t know why, but he was a turnover machine at the beginning of this year, and the end of last one.
Overall, since he`s been here... NO... He doesn`t typically give the ball up like that.
It was out of character, but nonetheless... it did cost us some games. IMO...
Yeah, I know we wouldn`t have won the games we did, without him. I ain`t tryin to crucify him... But, I can`t say he is our MVP, either, since, if he had just done what he usually does, at the beginning of the year, we would probably still be (realistically) in the hunt for the playoffs.
I`m not putting all the blame on him, either.
There is plenty to go around.
He`s always gonna have a FEW picks, because he takes chances.
I will live with that. I don`t want him gone... But you gotta admit, he gave the ball up waaay too often, and at the worst times, from the end of last year, and into this one, Period.
    GO STEELERS!

Can't say for sure but I wouldn't be surprised and wouldn't be unfair if they did, both players are having a great year.

    Week 1: 1 Int - 1 Fum
    Week 2: 1 Int - 0 Fum
    Week 3: 2 Int - 2 Fum
    Week 4: 1 Int - 1 Fum
    Week 6: 0 Int - 0 Fum
    Week 7: 0 Int - 0 Fum
    Week 8: 2 Int - 0 Fum
    Week 9: 2 Int - 1 Fum
    Week 10: 1 Int - 0 Fum
    Week 11: 0 Int - 0 Fum
    Week 12: 0 Int - 0 Fum
    Week 13: 0 Int - 0 Fum
    Week 14: 0 Int - 1 Fum
    Week 15: 1 Int - 0 Fum

    11 Int - 6 Fum

Sorry, I'm not seeing this humongous turnover machine. Basically you are talking about week 3 with 2 Int and 2 Fumbles. A game where Mike Adams was being abused badly. The fumbles those first 4 weeks were clearly a result of no protection at all.

LOL, that's 9 games out of 15. we would absolutely crucify any other player for that. 17 TO's BF. that's a lot. add the sacks that were on ben and you won't win championships with that no matter how you want to slice it. just sayin, there's plenty of blame to go around. can you seriously say you are happy with that? I'm not.

I think people are being a bit spoiled, he's basically averaged 1 turnover a game, 15 games, 17 TO's, big whoop. I may be wrong but whats the league average in TO's among QB's? He has 6 games where he didn't throw an interception, do people really expect that every week? Sorry, perfection doesn't exist.

My point though, was that the first 4 games was a direct result of the worst line play I have ever seen in 40+ years of watching football, no one would have done well under that pressure.

Peyton has around 15, couple other "top" qb's do too.

And I'm sure our line didn't have anything to do with it.

I can't see that Ben's turnovers this year can be considered a significant problem. I would have to think he is below the QB league average. He's probably having the best season of his career. I don't think we can bury him for our problems this year.

The turnover issues in the first 4 games were a problem. Ben committed most of the turnovers in the first 4 games. This team wasn't good enough to over come the turnovers committed by the offense in the first 4 games. As a result, the team began the season 0-4. Starting the season 0-4 is never good.

Ben's play has improved. He's hasn't turned the ball over as much as he did in the first 4 games. He is generally making quicker decisions and getting rid of the ball quicker. As a result, he isn't taking as many hits or sacks. We've seen this type of play from Ben before only to witness him revert back to what he likes to do. The key for Ben and the rest of the offense heading into next season will be to maintain more consistency. If they can maintain more consistency the offense could be one of the best scoring offenses in the league. I am optimistic for the offense going forward.

A more concerning issue for the team may be the defense. The days of consistently dominating defenses might be over. I think the Steelers have a couple of young players, middle aged vets, and older players in which they can build a better defense around. A lot might depend up who they can afford to keep. I think a key piece they need add is a NT that can do the job consistently. Finding a NT is easier said than done.

To the people that believed this team should give up for a better draft position: The way this team has played and fought the last several weeks is why you don't pack it in regardless of the circumstances. Winners are not built by quitting.
