Firstly, I will unequivocally state that I want LaBeau to be the defensive coordinator for however long he wants to coach.

If the Steelers decide to be idiots and let him go, there is a defensive assistant currently with the titans that runs a fast pace scheme that keys on pressure and takeaways. His name is Greg Williams.

DL will retire on his terms. The Steelers wont let him go- ever. Having said that, I was sickened by Williams bounty crap (regardless if it happens on every team), so no thank you.

Butler deserves an opportunity based on loyalty alone. He's also a pretty good coach.

DL said last week, he " wants to come back" which tells me, that he may know something we don't. Butler will be the new D coordinator period. Not even a question, but regardless of the D coordinator, this team has a lot of holes to fill. MLB is a must, and we gotta find a two DBs, and I mean two legit DBs. Please, don't get me started on all the ones who flopped over the last decade

Ritchie Petibon was loyal to the Redskins as well. Not saying Butler wouldn't be a good coach, but if he would keep the same scheme in place, then maybe the team should look to a new direction. Not because it isn't a good system, but because we don't have the personnel to run it.

I fully expect Keith Butler to be the succesor to DL.

However, how could you not consider Rex Ryan should he be fired from the Jets? Now, maybe Rex is beyond being a DC in the league, but how do you not throw a lot of money his way to atleast try? Rex is one of the greatest defensive minds in the NFL. Love to have him as the DC.

I don't know why it's assumed that Butler will just be a clone of DL. I'm sure he has his own ideas he would like to implement. To me, he can take the best parts of DL's schemes and add his ideas to the mix, if they are good ideas, you could have the best of both worlds. Yes, he could be terrible but he could also be very good, only one way to find out.
