The season is pretty much over anyway so it's not a big loss.

wouldn't it be better to trade him than to release him?

Yes but what team would want him with his injury history and his salary?

No. Either way they have to incur a big cap hit. Releasing after June 1 allows that hit to be spread over 2 seasons.

Remember this past off season when Ike Taylor trainer was really pushing for wood to come down and train with them. He said he noticed some problems with Woodley's stride they needed to be corrected or these nagging injuries would keep coming back. Woodley refused and here we are.

He really could be onto something. Woodley was in shape this year and yet the same damn injury. I was a big time Woodley supporter but enough enough is enough.

Yeah he was still round. If he refuses to train with Shaw this year,he is refusing to help himself and in turn the Steelers. Then I say good riddance.

Shaw is not the official guy for the Steelers, so I have no problem with Woodley working with someone else. I believe he worked with Ryan Clarks guy down in Arizona this past offseason. I think Woodley looked pretty good this year as far as his size is concerned, better than last year. I fear if something doesn't change drastically, he's gone.

And thus ends the Lamar Woodley era in Pittsburgh. Too bad he couldn't have had more of an impact consistently the past few yrs. See you out here in AZ next season 56!!

Seems to me from all the discussions on Woodley that the ball is in his court. The team basically can't do anything until June. Minicamps are in May. So, Woodley can make any decision to cut him difficult by getting healed, then getting into the absolute best shape of his life, reporting to minicamp in a top notch condition above anything these past 5 years.

So our 2 most disappointing players this year used the same trainer in the offseason?

This is really irritating. Given our cap situation it's even worse. It's basically time for him to go and that's tough for me to say because I've always been a big fan of his. Actually I've always liked him more than Timmons but I don't think he's NEARLY as devoted to training as Timmons is and he is CERTAINLY not as dependable.
