Or if Bell and Heath had not started the season injured.

Reminds me of when they had Matt Stover. They didn't score a lot of TD's but the guy hardly ever missed.

Stafford is incredibly overrated and he's exactly the reason I hate all the rule changes favoring the passer. He puts up all these "numbers" which amount to nothing given the fact that he has a losing record for his career. Yet bums like him will maybe even wind up in the Hall of Fame based on their fantasy numbers. Meanwhile, guys like Ben who have actual tangible results to show for their career actually stir debate among people as to whether they are HOF worthy. Ben is a MUCH better qb and will probably never throw for 5,000 in a season but Stafford will probably never throw a td pass in the Super Bowl and probably will never even have a playoff win. I don't like the guy. He's the product of pandering and I fear that many more average qb's will be lauded as great players just because they are catered to.

Ravens are the luckiest team in the world. Honestly, won their last three games by a total margin of 7. Typical of Detroit to blow their own destiny. I can't stand the way things are falling apart.

IF the stupid rats make it to the Super Bowl and play the Seahawks they will get absolutely destroyed. That defense is not that good.

Yeah, add the fact he probably plays at least 10 games a year in a warm, cozy dome the bum.

I have enough stress over the Steelers, definitely can't worry about another team winning or losing. I just want us to win out and let the chips fall where they lay.

Baltimore has to be about the luckiest team the last two years. At some point those bounces will start to go against them. As for the Steelers win out and if we don't make the playoffs oh well, we finished on a strong note. I would like to see the Steelers play some of the younger guys the next two weeks to see what we have. Especially Moye. Give him a chance.

That most likely will not happen this week as the Steelers are still mathematically in it which means the first stringers will practice with Ben. Keep in mind the Steelers could already be out of it by the start of the game against the Packers if the Dolphins defeat Buffalo in the early game. If that happens, the Steelers should at least have some plays ready to go to utilize guys like Wheaton more - same with giving a few more plays to guys like Thomas at Safety.

Then going into the Cleveland game I would deactivate Sanders (little chance he is back anyway) and have your receivers be Brown, Wheaton, Cotch, and Moye. Have Ben play with these guys for the 1st half, maybe into a little of the second and then give Landry Jones some snaps. Might as well see how he performs. On defense, give some respect to Kiesel (if he can play) and Clark and have them play the first quarter or then play Woods, Arnfeldt, Fangupo, Thomas, and Golden the rest of the way.

BTW - I agree Baltimore is lucky, but good teams get lucky. Keep in mind in the SB run of 08 the Steelers had 4-5 games where they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. I still think the talk at the end of last year of Flacco as elite was hilarious - the guy has posted one regular season QB rating over 90. But just like we have said about Ben, he is a winner and he often finds a way to make big plays when it counts. Guy also throws and incredible deep ball.

For clarity sake, by respect I mean this will probably be Brett's and Ryan's last game - they have been starters and contributors for a long time they deserve some kind of send-off and having them announced as starters or doing something in terms of calling out there names when they are replaced would be nice.

Nobody wins it all without luck. Injuries, calls on key plays, bounces of the ball: these all effect outcomes and a team has to have a few lucky breaks to win it all.

everyone keeps saying the the Ravens and the Dolphins are so lucky. its not that they are lucky, they are good. good teams make their own luck.

the Steelers put themselves in a position to where they are relying on 5 other teams to win or lose just so they can have a chance.

maybe if they wouldnt have lost to teams like the Titans, Raiders and Vikings they wouldnt be in this position.

i want the Steelers to make the playoffs as bad as anyone, but i also realize that if they make the playoffs they wont get past the 1st round. their offense although improving still settles for too many field goals and cant run the ball and the defense cant stop good teams from scoring.

if by some miracle this teams limps into the playoffs i will be as happy as any Steeler fan, but the reality is too many scenarios have to play out for them to have any chance and all the other teams that have a chance keep winning and whether its by luck or not it is what it is.
