I like how people forget Ben missed a wide open Wallace in the end zone two plays before the fumble but that pick 6 was on the oline Ben got mauled as he threw it.

The Steelers have paid Ben R
well over a 100 million dollars
over his career. He must sign
on Steeler terms or let him play out his 2 remaining years and move on from there.
He cannot carry a team as the 4 QBs mentioned in this
    conversation.

It was only 7-0 at that point. A lot of mis-remembering going on in this thread.

    He Can't Carry a team?

I think hes done a pretty damn good job of carrying this team for the last 2 years....

you must have forgotten what happened when ben was out last year?? JFC people amaze me...

you like the 5 wins we have this year?? without Ben we would be lucky to have Fing 2

You act like Franchise Qbs grow on Trees...look at the Browns....Great D...top 5 Wr, all pro LT... and brandon wheeden and jason cambell at QB

    pretty much this right here.
They lose to Detroit and Baltimore for sure, and possibly buffalo and Cleveland as well.

It's true that Ben and the offense are not capable of carrying the team over course of a season. The team will never win another SB with Ben unless they fix the defense.

I know the Steelers were down 7-0 when Ben threw the int to make it 14-0. The poster implied if Pittsburgh would've run the ball more (in that game) we would have won, so it's hard to run the ball being down 21-3. Especially, when Green Bays best defensive weapon safety Charles woodson left the game cause of injury at that point.

As long as we have Roethlisberger, if nothing else, we've got a chance. Period. When the time comes he can no longer play, for us, the hunt will begin for another that gives us at least a shot, and believe you me they're far and few.

Some of us are old enough, therefore should be wise enough, to remember Before Roethlisberger.

    <<<SHUDDERS>>>

Ben is and will remain a Steeler.

how? he's getting his big money for the next 2 years. do you know how he will be playing two years from now?

I wonder why they have to do it now anyway. he's got two years left making his biggest salary yet.

he's also gotten the most percentage (of a contract that he signed) than any other player. he's also got incentives built into that contract that he gets paid for if reached.

after his contract he can be franchised for two years, again making big money. top 5 qb contracts averaged 3 years from now. that's some fine dough. or re-sign him then.

do you really think if he's still playing well, they will let or he will want to walk?

yes a franchise qb is not easy to replace in his prime, but an old franchise qb that has lost some ability is easier to swallow. so in 2 more years or 4 more years, we can make that determination. why rush it?

I am watching the Packers play the Cowboys. If you want to know how the Steelers would look without Ben just watch the Packers this year.

Contrary to what my neighbor in Kentucky believes, I am a BR supporter and believe that he has been an elite QB for the Steelers. You can never count him out and as long as he is on the field, we have a chance. It is a dilemma because Ben excels when the play breaks down and it turns into sandlot and it is exciting, albeit shortening our lives to watch that. As Ben ages though, his mobility isn't as good as it once was. Remember when Ben was a threat to bootleg and take it to the EZ on third and goal from the 2? Those days seem to be gone and a dimension that made Ben a bigger threat is gone. Ben is a tough sumbeeyotch and nobody can dispute that. But your game has to evolve as you get older and without that dimension, he is still a damm good QB, but not as good as Manning at reading a D. It is what it is. I'm glad we have the guy even though I'm hard on him for his past off-field decision making. And guess what KY? Just because I make jokes about the guy doesn't mean I don't like him. I make jokes about you and your sister too....

I think Bens game has evolved a lot this year. 4 sacks in 4 games while picking apart defenses.
