Is the signing of Ventrone to the practice squad a sign of things to come?

I thought he was pretty impressive on specials and as a back up in the preseason. Could this be a sign that the Steelers are planning on whole sale changes next year at safety.

 

Maybe someone would sit clark for a few series and let Ventrone or Thomas or Golden get some playing time.

 

Up until his injury Thomas had been playing quite a bit. Outside of that you don't just get playing time, you earn it. If you're not better in practice than the people in front you sit and learn until you are.

Didn't I see Ventrone on the Niners special teams earlier this season?

The signing of anyone to the practice squad is not the sign of anything.

 

Normally you would be right but this is very late in the season and with no injury or anything this tells me they liked which they did he made it to the last round of cuts and want to ensure another look at him.

 

They shift around players on the practice squad all the time...doesn't really mean anything big or whatever...just another body they liked and wanted on the PS. Shoot he could be gone next week and someone else in his place.

 

I wouldn't read too much into it, but it is good to have Ventrone back in the fold - I had high hopes for this guy last year.

but at this point in the season im willing to try about anything
