    Manning 10 int - 10 fumbles
    Big Ben 10 int - 8 fumbes

I don't think manning could throw the ball over 20 yards, has all day to throw the ball, great off-line. This team is going nowhere in the playoffs wouldn't shock me if they go 0-1 with manning sucking @rse.

    P. Manning also has 800 more yards and almost twice as many TDs as Ben. Apparently he doesn't need to throw the ball more than 20 yards.

Yeah put him in Pittsburgh and his neck wouldn't survive. Also, it's easy to pad your stats when you're up by 21 in the fourth qtr and still running the hurry up offence.

Overrated scrub? Give me a break! Manning will go down as one of the best QBs to ever play the game. His performance for being as old as he is and coming back from significant neck surgery is proof of that. Manning is a student of the game and no one that I've seen reads defenses like he does.

Padding his stats as you call it is him doing his job. I guess he should be charged with bullying, huh? If defenses don't want him to run up the score they should stop him. If not, full speed ahead.

Take your black and gold glasses off and look at the guy realistically, not emotionally.

How can you even argue about Manning. The guy is probably one of the best QBs to every play the game. You could even argue that it was all due to the system with the Colts but how do you respond when he goes to another team and does better? Don't like the guy if you want but at the least give him his respect. I don't like Brady but the guy is one heck of a QB and whatever I think will never take that away from him. Running up the score? Who was responsible for creating the opportunity to run up the score in the first place?

    Quite.

I thought this thread was going to be a defence of Ben, which would have perhaps worked a little better.

Manning and Brady have been the NFL poster boys. The facts is they're protected by the league. They wear tampons!!

How do you think they get to be up by 21 in those situations?

Peyton Manning is the league MVP even if he doesn't play another game for the rest of the year. Seriously man think before you hit send.

i'll put the 4 time super bowl winning terry bradshaw in there somewhere. they don't give out that trophy for yards and TD's. they give it to TEAMS that win. if your the qb of said team, you have done your job.

Manning is nothing more than Dan Marino with a Super Bowl win instead of a loss. They are both incredible throwers of the ball. He is a HOF'er without any hesitation. He is one of the best ever, but I'm not sure I rank him in the top 3 overall. There are so many good quarterbacks in the history of the NFL that it is even hard to compare as the eras were so different.

My take on P Manning is he doesn't play well under pressure, you can beat him with a good pass rush. He has never played for a team with a bad offensive line, so having said that, rushing him, putting pressure on him, knocks him out of wack and his game goes in the gutter. THe Steelers did that to him back a few years ago in a playoff game and won but the trick to beating him is pressure, making him hurry his reads and throws. He would fall apart playing in Pittsburgh, but playing on teams who give him time do do his thing, he is about as good as a QB can be but I do put Brady ahead of him.

I still think it is ridiculous for people who so quickly want to anoint Manning and/or Brady as the best ever or quickly putting them in the top 5 while neglecting the rest of history. After watching football for 30+ years I cannot evaluate guys like Johnny Unitas or Otto Graham who have credentials as being pretty good too, but I do feel that Dan Marino and John Elway are better pure passers than either Manning or Brady.

Also, maybe Montana is the best of all time, but the guy also played with some amazing talent just as Terry Bradshaw did….that get’s lost in the shuffle.

We can talk stats all they want, but if you do that Ben Roethlisberger is well on his way to probably being a Top 10 QB of all time as well, because if he remains relatively healthy in 5 years time he will probably approach the 50,000 yard mark. Today’s game with the way the QB is both protected (especially Manning and Brady where if you touch them a flag is thrown) along with the way defenses' hands are tied in not being able to do much against a receiver beyond 5 yards favors a proliferation of stats.

I don't think Ben will ever be top 10 all time unless he retires with 4+ rings.

I don't think he will either, but for me it isn't about the rings argument. For whatever reason winning championships seems to be absolute criteria for being considered the best of all time for QB. I look at guys like Marino and always ask myself what if he would have had a solid defense for 3-4 years, would he have won a championship?

Then you look at Brady who won 3 rings on teams that had very good defenses. The last two SB wins the Patriots ranked #1 and #2 in points allowed for those seasons. Since then he hasn't won one....what would we think of Brady w/o those championships? Is he still Top 10 even when statistically Brady seems like a better QB since those SB wins.

The year Manning won the SB, it was largely due to having a successful running game and the defense stepping up. During that post season he actually threw more picks than TD's.

lmaooooooooooooooooooo have you ever seen a colts/broncos game... stiff? scrub? i can think of about 30 steelers that applies to but certainly a top 10 QB of all time... post like that just makes you look uneducated.. how many SB rings would we have if we had PM since 1998?

If detemining the best QBs of all time was about rings, ranking them would be a snap. All I'm saying is that Ben will need 2+ more to be considered top 10.

Manning won a Super Bowl on the back of a defense and running game... sound familiar? ;)
