As of today the Steelers will pick tenth also we won't have to wait 3 hours before they make their first pick in the first round.

I agree, I'd also add that Worilds has arrived. Don't know if they can keep him but sure hope they can. Cupboard isn't bare, there's a foundation to build on here.

Let's give the rest of the season a moniker. Let's call it the Drive for Five.

And I hope that is exactly what we do. We seem to have some talent, but just cant win games. At this point, I dont know what the issue is. As someone else said, we were mercifully put of out of misery today.

I would never want us to loose to give us a better draft pick. As we all know, and especially us, draft picks isn't a guarantee. (See MiKe Adams, Ziggy Hood, Marcus Gilbert as recent examples) I hope we win the reminder of our games and finish 8-8. That was my prediction from the start.

Unfortunately, constantly finishing 8-8, gets you nowhere. I don't want the Steelers to go out and lose the next 3 games. As a FAN, I want them to win them all. However, I do see the silver lining should we lose 2 or 3 games.

Look at our success when we have had a Top 15 pick:

    2007: Lawrence Timmons #15
    2004: Ben Roethlisberger #11
2003: Troy Polamalu (I know its #16 and we traded up, but you get my point)
    2000: Plaxico Burress #8

I'll stop there so I don't have to mention Troy Edwards ;). A Top 12 pick this year is going to net us a relly good player.

if we end up at 8-8 , we will draft around 15 ,if we lose out we will draft around at 8 , the difference could be a trading down regaining the 3rd pick we traded to cleveland

It will get us somewhere if we fire the asinine personnel that keeps drafting these sorry individuals that we are drafting. Its good to great quality players between 15-20. Or it should be. We just got to fine them and stop taking unnecessary chances on garbage. And even if we did draft higher, one player isn't going to make a world of difference on this team. Especially if he's a defensive player.

We need someone good enough to start immediately. And I see offensive line is about the only position that will satisfy that. Maybe WR.

I see your point and it's enticing. But I believe winning cures all. They will come back mentally better because of how they started. And like I mentioned in another thread, we should find a pretty good player at 15.

I'm not a big college fan of knowing players but I don't see anyone in this draft that will make a significant impact on this team if we draft at number 8. If he's on defense he won't start or know enough his first year. And on offense, oline can be an immediate starter. WR maybe but you know how hard it is for WRs to come in and start immediately.

    I've said it before:

All season long folks complain that the team comes out flat.

Now, some of them want us to lose out for draft position.

Where's the consistency? The one thing that will give me real hope for next season is if I see the team on the field - not the hypothetical, fantasy draft team like two years back when we got Decastro and our o-line was going to be the best ever ever (remember?) - but the actual team on the field playing with passion and belief.

Competitive spirit and professional dignity is not something you just switch off and on again because you happened to pick four places higher in a draft. The message it sends to players, fans and the league alike is almost impossible to overturn.

We had the number 10 pick last week, we have a 9 spot this week, after the bengals run the ball down our throat this sunday night we might have the 7 pick.....

I don't think 17th is a bad spot. Should get someone that will start immediately. At least I hope.

IMO, if some of the juniors that are expected to come out do come out, this is an excellent draft class as far as Round 1 goes. I like our chances of getting an impact player. Question is, at what position?

start landry jones we will see what he ha s and we will pick in the top 6 with the option of trading down and gain back the 3rd we traded , then keep in mind that the top 6 is in every rounds not only in the first . a big difference in all the draft

Not to mention the pick they're taking from us and now I just heard that we are going to be giving another one of our picks to NE because of some new saber metric rule just instituted by Jolly Roger. Somehow he has come up with a formula that implicates us in Gronk being out for the year.

No, no, you got it wrong. The pick will go to the Bengals because they were given a touchdown on a review that wasn't a touchdown!
