The league wont let a coach challenge inside the two mnute warning because they want here goon refs to be able to determine the game, u mean to tell me with the season on the line u wouldn't challenge that play? the whole human ref element is bullcrap that why there is suppose to be a challenge, that by the way can be done a whole lot quicker but they like to drag it out tohave 10 minute commercials, for real sometimes I fell like im watching commercials with a little football sprinkled in.This league is on its way down with all this obvious bs calls in games eventually the sheeple will figure it out.

The NFL IS entertainment not a sport, all 32 teams get the same money so they don't care who wins or looses, the outcomes are predetermined who goes to the playoffs and so forth, not every game is fixed but they help the teams they want to win by throwing a flag here or there to kill momentum of drives, when things don't work the way they want it to they spin stuff in different directions like our 2006 super bowl that was indies and mannings super bowl that went our way hen they spin it to bettis farewell even though he didn't do much that year, 75% of owners in the league including our owners have gambling ties, its not like soccer where if your team does good they get rewarded with money, the NFL all teams get the same money so do u think Jacksonville owners care that they suck. People still go to the games and they get paid the same as the Patriots etc. Todays nfl is like a show, the manning bowl, the 911 patriots, the Katrina saints and so forth. Every play is micromanaged the refs throw flags at calls that they don't trow 2 minutes later, its weird, and hard to follow. Also the pairity of the league is making it not interesting at all. Even though we are 5-8 I still think we can beat every team and vise versa. I use to love watching football where players made hits, and plays that weren't flagged on every other play. As much as I love this game I can see in the future having a backlash on the real fans of this game.

So why wasn't the play reviewed, I still don't understand?

Also, not that it would have been overturned, but could it not have been challenged by Tomlin that he was out...

I hate to think that it would be but things happen that make you wonder. I know a few former players and they say the league plays favorites. I always thought they were just bitter but who knows

    somewhat unrelated, but somewhat not....

What is up with the timing of the loss of draft pick story breaking right before this game today. It is almost like that got leaked just to mess with our psyche.

They sat on that all week until today, when they could not come out with that earlier this week or after the season?????

No. Tomlin could not have challenged it. Under 2 minutes in a half, replays are determined only by the booth.

But here's the thing. And it applies to our last SB win over the Cardinals too. Cardinal fans complained that Warner's last fumble "wasn't reviewed," just as we have fans complaining that Brown's OOBs wasn't.

    They both were.

    Let me repeat that.

The play WAS reviewed. You just didn't see it. Every play inside the 2 minute warning is reviewed by a ref in the booth. If he sees anything that might even remotely get the call overturned, and it's a reviewable play, he calls down to the refs on the field to OFFICIALLY review it. In both the case of Warner's fumble, and Antonio's unfortunate misstep, one look shows it's clear that the call wouldn't be overturned. so there was no need to stop the game and do an official review.

All of that said, Guck Foodell.:goodell::godell:

Late game laziness also comes into play with some of these older refs

Indeed, I don't see a rigging issue, either. However, I do believe certain players get the benefit of calls a little more than others. I do believe certain teams benefit from calls more than others. Anyone remember the Ryan Clark hit in the Oakland game in 2010? A textbook shoulder to chest hit that drew a 15-yard penalty? The same season, Heath took a blatant shot to the head against Baltimore, and there was no call. Even Cris Collinsworth couldn't believe the Heath hitl didn't draw a flag.

The game is so fast and now filled with so many judgment rules that the refs no longer know what PI i, no longer know what helmet to helmet hit is, no longer even know what a catch is. Here's what needs to happen:

    1. Helmet hits should be reviewable, a la college.
    2. Pass Interference should not be a spot-of-the-foul penalty, also a la college.

I've been harping on #2 for years. There is no way a inconsistent judgement call should have such a dramatic impact in a game. That's where the favoritism in this league really rears it's ugly head. The biggest cheap shot you can dish out only costs you 15, but some blind ass refs interpretation cost you a game. It makes absolutely no sense. Then again the NFL is quickly becoming the NFSL.( no ****in sense league). Thanks Rog.

And who wants to bet that the Gronkowski injury (because he's a Patriot) will lead to "low hits" being legislated out of the game, too?

After watching Denver, Patriots, Saints maybe we should follow there model. Invest in an high power offense and let the defense be sub-par. I know those teams defense is very soft and can be scored on but their offense just out scores the other team.

Seems like they take the mentality of "stats don't matter, the score does".

    Agree on both.

What are people's thoughts on the penalty called on Ryan Clark, when, according to Fouts, he'd done absolutely nothing wrong and the ref was just 'expecting' him to make an illegal hit on a defenseless receiver?

You know what I'd like to see reviewed? The fact that this team (and a lot of fans, apparently) are upset about a non-review on a miracle (fluke), non-planned play than the fact that the defense forgot they still had to play for 60 minutes just 2.5 minutes earlier and made Tannehill look like the second coming of Joe Montana. Isn't that the more important fact here?

The PI call in the Pats game was a terrible call. Fixed? Not a chance. The NFL isn't fixed. The reality is that humans are making the calls and are going to get it wrong at times.

Everyone thinks the league wants the Patriots to win, if that's the case, why didn't they make that PI call against Gronk late in the Carolina game? Where was the outrage on this board when the Pats got screwed in that game? Where was the outrage when the Pats got a terrible call against them in the Jets game? Seriously, bad calls go both ways, but this board only seems to remember the calls that benefit the Pats and ignore the ones that hurt them. How convenient.

I love when people ignore evidence that disproves what they're claiming. Just like the 9/11 truthers, ignore everything that doesn't support your theory. Ridiculous

Great idea. I don't see the game as being rigged, but in sad decline- at least to my tastes.. Yesterday's games, with all those ridiculous endings, showed me that
    1) there is too much pass interference called
    2) the refs don't seem to have any consistency or confidence in their calling, which I believe partly has to do with replay
    3) no one can play pass defense any more with any consistency, partly due to #1 and other rules favoring the passing game

the rats vs wikings was one of the biggest steal i saw in my life , they ruled a fumble when on replay was knee on the ground and then ssore the first td , then they called a gosth hold on the line when the wikes ware running on one first yard line of the rats , then at the end they calle ddanother gosth pass int to pitta at 20 seconds at the end to make able to score the last td that was rewiewed and uphelded when the ball was moving going out of the bounds . the 6th seed is miami vs balt , and miami got robbed on an head to head match , i suspect the rats has to make the playoffs for some reason . i will be curious to see what happen sunday between miami and new england ..

There were multiple instances in the Pat game, not just one. Check out the grounding call on Campbell or the defenseless receiver call on the Edleman TD. Pats also have the largest penalty differential in their favor in the NFL this year. I live in Pat country so every game is on TD and there are a handful calls/no-calls in their favor each game.

As for the Gronk call, they did throw a flag then decided the ball was touched, as it was under thrown, before contact was made. ESPN just wanted to blow it up, because, we'll, that's what ESPN does.

Again, I don't claim games are fixed, rather they get the benefit of the doubt much more than not.

Dude if you think these outcomes are real give me what your smoking. If you pay attention to point spreads that's where its fixed big time, late irrelavent field goals,bs tds in the end of games that mean nothing change the money ,there is all of betting on these games and believe me I don't think these owners and vegas guys care who wins the game but the spreads how they want it. Then the nfl favors teams that are making headlines for better tv coverage and advertising dollars. If u pay attention to some of the players on the sidelines they look like they could give a rats ass whats going on, on the other hand we the fans blow our lids every week.

My theory is that it's all about the TV ratings. LOTS of people will tune in to watch Manning/Brees but, who would tune in to see say, the Jags/Cardinals?
