    Going to bump this.

I'm really getting ticked at the BS coming out about player safety and there has yet to be an explanation on the Bell hit!

WTF!? At least come out and explain why/Why it wasn't a penalty on the Defenders! 24/7 coverage of the Coach with a foot on the field and they don't even bother to address a safety issue!

Is helmet to helmet a penalty on a RB? I can't keep up anymore with what's ok and what's not. Bell did say in an interview that he believes the concussion was from his head hitting the ground.

I don't know what part was the actual cause of the concussion but it clearly looked to me like Bell was knocked out before his head touched the ground. During the replays, from what i saw it looked like his eyes were closed and his body looked stiff as he was falling after the initial hit by the defender. I'm not saying it should have been a penalty, because i'm a bit unclear on that as well, but it sure looked like the helmet to helmet hit is what knocked him out and probably what caused the concussion. Actually, you could say both the helmet to helmet hit followed by his head hitting the ground combined to cause his concussion.

i really believe Bell and Dwyer can be an effective one two punch if Tomlin and Haley can figure out how to use them and we can improve our run blocking along the offensive line.

Yeah I'm not sure what caused the concussion, just stating what Bell said.

So you think Haley has more than 2 weeks left to figure it out?

As of this moment I guess I'm trending that way but I think if in these next two games we don't really show up and play a complete game it might be the end for him.

dwyers trouble is pass catching. he's never been very good at it and it's more and more a big part of the offense. I definitely wouldn't be surprised if we drafted one this year. dwyer, jones,LSH and even willj I think are all free agents after the season.

I don't understand why they haven't used WillJ more this year.

I'm not sold on Jones or even LSH yet. I don't dislike Dwyer, but IMO he's been a bit inconsistant from game to game to be counted on 100% to backup Bell. Who knows though, some of that incosistancy may be due to the O-Line.

What I do like, is that they appear to be bringing in different folks in thru the PS during the season to see if they can find another jewel like Willie Parker.

some of these PS guys could be just future's type players for camp next year. the cupboard would be quite bare without them. alvester alexander has been on the squad since the last preseason game. we will be looking at cheap as possible next year. I figure a mid to late round pick. 3 or below, bell and a couple of guys like AA. I don't see us offering dwyer, lhs or jones much more than vet minimum offers.

I agree, but they cycled at least two or three others thru the PS ... the current one being the guy from Pitt whos name escapes me. Like you though, I don't want them to make the same mistake and to totally ignore the RB position in the draft, like they did with the O-Line and TE positions in this past year's draft.

yea, they have the kid from pitt and had pead from cinci, that I actually liked in the draft last year as a late guy. AA is supposed to be pretty fast too for his size. seems like we are looking for a guy that has some wiggle in his game when in the open. more like an LSH type. these guys have kinda fit that profile. not a bad thing seeing what they have next year either.

Just read that Bell is third in the league when rushing and receiving yards are combined, pretty good for a rookie who missed his first three games.
Looks like we hit on this one!

And yet some people on here still hate him. I just don't get it

ps. Do you mean 3rd for rookies or 3rd overall? If it's 3rd overall, that's very wrong and he's not even close. He's probably not even top 15

    If he is healthy
    today and OL
blocks he will have a field day running the ball. If he keeps his head on straight and keeps working he will be our Matt Forte. Yea
    Steelers!

That's the problem with RB's. Everyone wants an AP or Lynch, but those guys don't just grow on trees in a position that typically has the lowest career life in the NFL. We were spoiled with Bettis and his 13 (11 with Steelers). They tried to replace him with several backs, but just couldn't get it done.

Helmet to helmet isn't a penalty after 5 yards. The RB cannot lower his helmet and use it like a battering ram outside of the tackle box. There's no such rule for defenders. The play was legal. Helmet to helmet on a RB is just fine. Helmet to helmet on a QB or defenceless receiver is a penalty
