Sorry guys/gals. I have to throw this out there and since it really hasn't been discussed in the other TGate threads I'm gonna go ahead and start another.

Hypothetically - If the Steelers would have won that game by tying it up at 22 with a successful 2 point conversion and then winning with a field goal.

What do you think the media, fines, suspensions, docked darft picks, other fans reaction and you own reactions be?

Is my memory playing tricks, or didn't the Ravens score off that drive?

And is it my memory, or wasn't Curtis Brown going to make the tackle, Tomlin or not?

This aside, I think the reaction would be much the same as every other time we beat the Ravens on controversial calls and no-calls. Other than that, I think Jack summed it up pretty well.

The ravens scored a field goal on that drive. Not a TD which may or may not have occurred if Tomlin didn't alter the path of Jones.

The Steelers almost tied up the game with the 2 point conversion after the Steelers final TD.

My hypothetical comes from it being 22-22 going into OT and then the Steelers winning in OT on the foot of the Kicking Cannuck. 25-22 Steelers win.

There is no way to tell if Brown would have made that tackle either way. Not even Brown and Jacoby Jones know for sure. Jones did alter his path, but would he have been tackled anyway? Who knows.

If we had ended up winning that game I think this issue would have been much bigger than it currently is.

Likewise, there is no way to know that Jones doesn't fumble 2 yards later. I think the angle and path would suggest Brown would more than likely have been in position to make a tackle. Basically, I don't buy that Tomlin outright cost the Ravens 4 points. Too many variables to take into play.

Ironically, it may have actually benefitted us if he had scored the TD, as - if we're really playing hypotheticals - it would have freed up more time at the end of the game to score, make another stop, and score again...

Correct, it was Allen and he would have caught him regardless. Anyone that looks at that and is so cock sure the MT did it on purpose but doesn't admit that Allen would have caught him is not being honest. To me that is MUCH more evident then MT's intentions.

As far as reaction goes, the only difference is I would have been happy that we won. MT's actions on that play is and always will be such a non issue for me.

I agree. I would have been happy we won but, boy, it would be hard to do a lot of celebrating because we would have gotten absolutely crucified in the press.

    Absolutely right Thig!

the tackle was gonna be made no matter what and Cortez got a hell of a punch on the ball almost knocked it loose.
    Tomlin had
    ZERO
    I repeat
    ZERO influence of the outcome

I don't know how the Giants can live with themselves after the Refs handed them the game.

How is it possible that Seattle is having the season they are having after their touch-interception-down play last year?

If we win the game, who gives a damn what the whiny Rats have to say about it. Either way, they would have had a lead and we came back to win the game.

Unfortunately, we lost, but I still don't give a damn what the Ravens fans think about the game or the play. Screw them. And screw Goodell. If it does come down to the tiebreaker, I hope the Rats lose it by 5 points.
