Funny you mention that, he actually contradicted that somewhat in his Sirius radio interview afterwards. I was going to post it on the home page, but the drum on this story has been beaten to death, so I refrained. I'll post it on the home page shortly.

As far as a complete text version goes, I'd be surprised if it exists just due to it's length.

*Edit- After listening to it again, contradict isn't maybe as accurate as clarify. I'm not going to post it on the homepage because honestly it's not worth doing so. I'll see if I can post it here shortly.

Any why wait to see what the draft order is? If you're going to take it, take it now.

What does draft order have to do with the punishment?

the only thing could make sense should be if they are going to wait to see if these 4 points alter either the AFC playoff picture or the draft order. Points scored is like the 6th tie-breaker, so the chances of this happening is beyond remote

this one i found on one comment on the web

So they fine Bellicheat 250k for years of cheating and a Superbowl. But they fine Tomlin 100k for this?

Tin foil hats on now......Maybe the Rooneys are behind this so they can get rid of Tomlin.:hmmm: You know bc they have an image, blah blah blah.

I dont really think this but figured I would stir the pot.

Interesting article...just keep the distraction on Tomlin to hide their shame.

As far as if it affects playoffs, this is also a ridiculous statement, there was no guarantee that Jones would have scored a td, and they got a fg that drive. Furthermore, the Ravens won the game. So there is no conclusive evidence that it changed the outcome of the game at all. To affect the playoff seeding, Baltimore would have to be tied with a team where points scored comes into play.

You can't say for a certainty that he did it on purpose, as much as you think he did. Even Harbaugh doesn't believe he did it on purpose, plenty of people that know him a lot better then you said no way he did that on purpose.

This is just dictator Goodell seizing an opportunity to further **** on the Steelers.

That the fine and/or potential lose of draft picks, etc is excessive since he had no INTENT and maybe even more importantly that he is a man of his word to the Steeler Team and their fanbase. That's why I'd do it at least.

Thanks, I understand what you mean.
In his presser, he said the Rooneys hadn't talked at all.
In his radio piece, he said the Rooneys hadn't discussed "his intent", but did go over "mimimizing the destraction". :smiley1:

I like Tomlin and believe he is a man of details. He has been on the sidelines during games a WHOLE lot, he knows where he is supposed to be. I also believe he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt "exactly" where he was at. He purposely sidestepped to the edge of the white area and stood there like a statue until Jones was next to him when he jumped back over.

I don't think tomlin was trying to interfere with the play by being on the field, he isn't that stupid. The thing is the League had just communicated to all teams about this the previous week. Coincident???

The fine was justified. I don't want this but we will loose a late rd pick. Here's why. If they weren't going to mess with our picks they wouldn't have said they're waiting to see how the picks are laid out. They believe Tomlin knew where he was. They want to set a precedent. This was a small infraction so the team is penalized with a late rd pick. If a team, in the future, is believed to have done this on a more damaging degree, then they have the precedent to take a more serious penalty( higher draft pick ).

According to profootballfocus, intent wasn't a factor in determining the punishment.

“Intent is not a factor in discipline because it cannot be determined,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told PFT via email. “An individual is fined for an action that is a violation.” I call BS. :bs:

I think Roger must have been upset with the LACK of Harrison fines this year.... so he's trying to keep up with previous fine levels for the team. Nice Roger, douche.

net pts in common games is the 9th tiebreaker. The NFL has purposely structured tbs to downplay points, so the 4 pt impact is extremely unlikely to effect things.

but I think the NFL has a draft pick penalty in mind, and if the Steelers finish 6-10 it will be a 6th rounder, iif they get deep in the playoffs, it will be a 5th.

In any case I'll bet every NFL coach stays off the white line the rest of the season.

Intent was a factor, and the NFL ruled Tomiln intended to interfere, at least judging by the punishment.

Hell I'm just surprised that we don't have any polls on Tomlin and/or the Fine. I'm hoping that Cajun will step up to the plate and be the one that pisses off Myron yet again. :lolol:

is very unlikely but can happen , expecially with all the teams involved at the moment , is the only way this postponing make sense otherwise they should give it immediately , do you think they mind too much if they have to steal an high 5th or a low 5th ?

Apparently they do. Or else why not come out and take their 4th rounder now?
