Am I the only one who remembers these same debates about Arians?

Some nuances to think about in this debate:

    1. Haley is working with an offensive line that is so bad it can't even be called NFL quality. And now two more guys have gone down. The line wasn't good under Arians; it is even worse now.
    2. Arians was not God. For those clamoring for a return to the Arians days, take a look at this: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200912100cle.htm Or how about this (which occurred in the SB season of 2008): http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200811160pit.htm
    3. Those who think Haley is a sub-.500 coach really need to go back and look at his record--not just Ws and Ls, but his overall effectiveness and the personnel he was working with.
    4. When Arians was let go, it was because the FO wanted a return to power football. Haley was brought in to rejuvinate the run game. He sort of did through the first 6-7 games of 2012. That's what he was hired to do...just sort of hard to do that with this line.

I am not trying to suggest that Haley is better than Arians. But I do think this offense will struggle no matter who the OC is.

I DO think Haley is better than Arians but NOT a good fit for this team.

BAs doing pretty well for himself in his two stops as a HC...

Haleys HC run was pretty poor...

BA gets his qbs almost killed. Luck was sacked like crazy and also threw a huge amount of picks. I think the Rooney's thought that BA was ultimately gonna get Ben hurt by playing in that Mike Martz-esque system and that's why he wasn't brought back.

Has nothing to Do with Indys piss poor Oline? Luck was a Rookie ..they went 11-5 Coach of the year

Arizona with Carson Palmer (yuck) is 7-5

    record speaks for itself..

Yeah, Haleys HC resume wasn't anything to write home about, 4-12, 10-6 and 5-8 fired after 13 games. Pretty bad actually.

Why didn't Peyton get sacked that much? I think most of his guys were back for Luck's first year right?

Here we go again: not taking personnel into consideration.

The Chiefs were 2-14 the season before Haley took over. Within two seasons, they won the AFC West. They had not won a division title in seven years. In 2011, when he was canned, the team was racked with injuries...and still, with Tyler Palko at QB (you read that correctly) they nearly beat the Steelers in another "brilliant" offensive performance by the Arians-led Steelers.

    This is a sensible argument.

So why isn't Tomlin afforded the same consideration in regards to injuries? This team is snake bit, suffered an abundance of injuries over the last 2 seasons. Far as I'm concerned, Haley sucked as a HC. The only good thing he has done came as an OC for Arizona, but I'm sure having Warner, Fitz and Boldin had a little something to do with that.

First of all you can't compare one season to the next....

second 2 different Qbs..rookie Qb vs possibly the greatest QB mind in the history of the game...

In some cases, he is. I think the difference is this: the injury situation with the Steelers is not an isolated thing. It has now become routine, especially on the O-line. If this happens one season out of seven, then it is what it is. But we are now seeing the injuries pile up on the line every year. Is this the HC's fault? Perhaps not. But there is most definitely an issue with scheme/coaching/training, etc. When I played football, one of the things we were taught was that bad technique leads to injuries. The whole o-line is in shambles every year mostly because of bad luck, but also because of bad technique. They're also just not very good.

When I speak of Haley's HC career, we need to keep in mind that he had Matt Cassel at QB, and he managed to win a division title, mostly because he developed Jamaal Charles at RB. The team ran the ball. I wouldn't say that Haley is a terrific HC or that he is a better HC than Arians. But I think too many people are dismissive of his ability and point to his position at KC as proof of it. Not sure how that is proof of anything, because, again, he made chicken salad out of chicken $#!t in KC.

In Peyton's first year in the league he literally set the record for INT's. Wanna guess who his qb coach was at the time?
