Ok you guys who break down film and know a little bit more about what is happening x's and o's wise can you tell me what the Ravens were running behind the front four? I am curious as to why they didn't try more quick slants like last week to get Brown the ball in space and let him work. It looked like some soft zone coverage because Heath was finding the soft spot as was Bell when they were able to get him the ball in space just behind the LB's. I was hoping they would run some rb screens to Sugg's side since he is always over aggressive that way if they moved the ILB over to shut down the screen it left one guy to cover Miller or a WR on an inside slant which is a favorable match-up. Were they playing lots of nickel looks? I know there were a few times I saw the safeties creep up where I wished they did have more speed at WR or at least guys who could separate.

What the rat birds did was what every team does to us which is why I get mad at Haley, it seems every team in the league knows he runs quick slants and screens and they set up for it taking the hot read away, especially on 3rd down. The same reason the bubble screens now lose yards when they used to gain a few, teams play extra guys in a constant nickel defense and one of the reasons they can do it is because they get good pressure with a 3 man rush, with a 4 man rush the oline struggles to stop it and it allows defenses the luxury of having more DBs up. The one problem with Mike Wallace gone is that safeties always had to stay back and teams had to be careful with how they blitzed, if they missed it often resulted in a big play, it made the oline look much better than what it was because teams couldn't cheat up but now they play up all the time as if they know what is coming. I say this because everyone wants to see these quick passes and inside slants and you can't do it because teams have adjusted to cover it and force the issues will just result in turnovers, if the oline becomes decent enough that it can consistently pick up the 4 man rush and teams begin to start getting beat deep down the middle, it will open up the quick underneath routes but so far the oline struggles to consistently pass protect, they do good for a few plays and then for the next 3 series the QB is running for his life. I'll admit they have looked better the last few games but with no real ground game as the oline still hasn't got the run blocking dialed in, the teams will still play nickel all the time and we will struggle.

Ben is tied for 1st for QB's with completions of 20 yards or more, if teams were cheating up like you say to take away the underneath stuff, why wouldn't we just burn them that way?

I've wanted to look back at that game to see if they were just playing really physical man coverage on AB and keeping him quiet. He's just not a big guy but he's really quick. But I think if you CAN put a little bit of a lick on him at the line you can make him much less of a factor. He really didn't play that great of a game though since he also was behind the corner and looked like maybe he quit on the route. I initially thought Ben overthrew him but others started pointing out that if he had kept running he might have had a td. So maybe they're right. Also if the Rats WERE dropping back and playing coverage then maybe that might make the o line look a little better than we initially thought as well?

we need a big phisical target when the defense are playing so tight , we have only miller and is often keep on the line to block

If only we had that kind of receiver on our roster already, just waiting to be dressed on gameday?
